One hospitalized after disabled vehicle hit on Topeka interstate
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - One woman was sent to the hospital after her disabled car was hit by another vehicle on an interstate in Topeka. The Kansas Highway Patrol Crash Log indicates that around 8:10 p.m. on Friday, April 14, emergency crews were called to the area of I-70 and MacVicar Ave. with reports of a 2-vehicle crash. HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – A woman was killed during a major wreck on the East Freeway at the Beltway, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez. Houston TranStar verified the multi-vehicle crash at 6:03 a.m. on Saturday on IH-10 East at the Beltway. The city’s transportation department reported it to be a four-vehicle crash, but investigators with the sheriff’s office said in a news conference the wreck only involved three vehicles.

COLLEGE PARK, Md. — Maryland State Police are investigating a pedestrian crash on the Capital Beltway that killed one D.C. man. That man was identified as 55-year-old Olumide Stephen of Washington, D.C. Police say that around 2 p.m., troopers arrived at the scene of a pedestrian crash on the right shoulder of southbound I-495, prior to Baltimore Avenue. In a preliminary investigation, troopers discovered Stephen was changing his right rear passenger-side tire when a black Toyota Prius traveling southbound struck Stephan and the rear of the car.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — North Carolina State Highway Patrol said a 21-year-old man is facing charges after a three-car crash on Interstate 40 East in Winston-Salem. Garret Kneen of Yadkinville is facing a charge of failure to maintain a lane and a registration violation. Troopers said Interstate 40 East is closed between Stratford Road and Hanes Mall Boulevard after a crash involving three vehicles. According to the highway patrol, a tractor-trailer was parked on the right shoulder of I-40 East for mechanical issues.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – An 84-year-old man was killed in a crash that shut down part of the East Freeway on Tuesday morning, ABC13 has learned. The wreck in the westbound lanes of I-10 at Thompson was reported on Houston Transtar’s incident page at about 4:30 a.m. and had cleared about two hours later. The driver from Florida was stopped in one of the lanes and had no lights on when his vehicle was hit, authorities said.

A Lyndeborough man sustained non-life-threatening injuries Monday after his disabled vehicle was hit by another driver. According to a release from Troop A of the New Hampshire State Police, Cody Douglas, 23, of Lyndeborough got out of his 2006 Subaru Forester when it broke down on Route 101 West in Auburn at approximately 4:30 p.m. The vehicle was on the left side of the road, partially in the high-speed lane.

IONIA COUNTY, MI – A North Carolina woman was killed Monday, April 10, in a crash on I-96. The victim’s eastbound pickup truck hit a cable barrier then stopped on the expressway where it was struck by a semi-tractor trailer, Ionia County sheriff’s deputies said. Kristin Vandersyde, 38, of Brevard, North Carolina, died in the 10:05 p.m. crash on I-96 near Jackson Road in Ionia County’s Berlin Township. She was driving a Chevrolet Silverado east on I-96 when it left the road, hit a cable barrier and came to a stop on the highway, police said.

ENCINITAS, Calif. — A stretch of lanes on southbound Interstate 5 was closed for several hours Monday following a deadly semi-truck crash, officials said. The collision happened around 10:45 a.m. on southbound I-5, near Encinitas Boulevard, Officer Hunter Gerber with California Highway Patrol said in a release. Authorities say a 40-year-old woman was driving a white Chrysler Pacifica in the fourth southbound lane when she veered onto the right shoulder and crashed into a disabled gray Honda Civic on the right shoulder.

The woman had been missing since Wednesday, April 5. She was found two days later when a fisherman noticed a black Jeep submerged about 40 feet away from a boat ramp, deputies said. In pictures released by authorities, the only visible part of the Jeep was part of its roof.
