Loved Ones Seek Answers After Road Crew Worker’s Hit-and-Run Death
The loved ones of a man killed in a hit-and-run along a Virginia highway last month is desperate for answers. Jonathan Franzell, a 32-year-old member of a road construction crew, was trying to help after a crash on Interstate 66 when a car hit him and kept going, Virginia State Police says. “It’s been hard; it’s been really hard,” said his girlfriend, Jessica Pullen, fighting tears. “I miss him. FAIRFIELD, Calif. — An Oroville man died Thursday morning when the pickup truck he was riding in went off the road and hit a box truck. According to CHP, the crash happened around 10 a.m. on westbound I-80 near Magazine Street. CHP says the 27-year-old driver, also from Oroville, was driving his Dodge Ram when he went off the road and hit a disabled box truck on the shoulder. The Ram driver’s passenger, an unidentified 18-year-old, was fatally injured.

JASPER COUNTY, Ind. — A 25-year-old man from Noblesville was killed in a crash in northwest Indiana Wednesday. Miles Williams was outside of his vehicle near the 230 mile-marker of Interstate 65 southbound around 9:45 a.m. when he and his Nissan Altima were hit by a southbound Chevrolet Equinox, state police said. Williams suffered severe injuries and died at the scene. Investigators said Williams had pulled off of the left side of the interstate after his passenger-side rear tire went flat.

ST. GEORGE — A darkened trailer being pulled by a vehicle reportedly triggered a three-car pileup on southbound Interstate 15 in the Leeds area shortly before 5:40 a.m. Thursday. Police say one driver was seriously injured when his vehicle flipped after hitting the concrete median and was then struck by two approaching cars that did not see the overturned SUV in time to avoid a collision. Officers and emergency personnel were dispatched to what was initially reported as a multi-vehicle crash that possibly involved five cars on southbound I-15 near mile marker 24 in Leeds.

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A person was thrown from their vehicle and another car flipped multiple times in a crash that killed two people on Interstate 95 Wednesday morning, according to police. Just before 1 a.m., Pennsylvania state troopers arrived at the scene near the Allegheny Avenue exit (Exit 25) and found three damaged vehicles, according to an incident report. Investigators believe the crash happened when a vehicle stopped in the right center lane of I-95’s northbound side.

Police have identified the driver killed in a crash in the town of Poland on Monday. The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office says 41-year-old Gary Hesketh of Oxford died at the scene of the crash on Harris Hill Road around 7:40 a.m. Monday. Deputies said he rear-ended a tractor-trailer that was stopped on the side of the road. Hesketh was pulled from the wreckage after his vehicle caught fire, but he died at the scene.

WRIGHT COUNTY, Minn. – A driver who got out of their vehicle after it went into a ditch was hit and killed by a pickup truck Tuesday evening on a snowy central Minnesota highway. The Minnesota State Patrol says the deadly crash happened at about 7:19 p.m. on Highway 24 in Clearwater Township, which is just southeast of St. Cloud. The truck was heading southbound on the highway when it struck the victim – a 36-year-old man from Maple Lake – who was standing on the shoulder.
