Karen Sweesy Killed, 1 Injured in Semi-Trailer Accident near Cottage Grove, OR
Cottage Grove, OR — March 24, 2023, Karen Sweesy was killed and one was injured due to an accident involving a semi-trailer along Interstate 5. Details released by the Oregon State Police say that the incident occurred around 6:00 a.m. several miles south of Cottage Grove along southbound lanes of I-5. According to officials, 46-year-old Karen Sweesy was in a southbound Nissan Murano. Ahead, it appears a tractor-trailer had lost control and crashed into the median barricade.

Laplace – On March 25, 2023 around 9:30 p.m., Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop B began investigating a three-vehicle fatal crash on I-10 West, approximately 7 miles west of LA 3188 in Laplace. The crash claimed the lives of 18-year-old Seamus Cassidy of Arnaudville and 32-year-old Oger Ivan Mejia-Puentes of Honduras. The initial investigation revealed that 27-year-old Brandon Cedotal of Gonzales was driving west on I-10 in a 2005 Ford F-550 tow truck.

SAN DIEGO — A 28-year-old man was badly injured early Friday when he got out of his disabled car to seek assistance on state Route 163 and was struck by a passing car, the California Highway Patrol said. The driver was headed north on the freeway when he crashed his Nissan Sentra into the center median wall south of Genesee shortly before 1 a.m., Officer Jesse Matias said. The disabled Sentra ended up in traffic lanes.

PHOENIX — An off-duty Phoenix Police Department sergeant has been hospitalized after he was hit on Interstate 17 early Friday morning, the Arizona Department of Public Safety said. The sergeant, whose identity has yet to be released, was struck after he got out of his car to help another car that was broken down on I-17 near Dunlap Road, troopers said. He was then hit, which caused a secondary crash with three cars involved.

A motorist traveling on Interstate 295 in Gloucester County was killed Tuesday morning when another vehicle struck his car after it became disabled in a crash. Giovanni Adames, 30, of Rahway, was traveling northbound in Greenwich Township near milepost 16.6 when he was involved in an accident with an unknown vehicle, according to New Jersey State Police Sgt. Philip Curry. The collision left Adames’ vehicle disabled in the left center lane of the interstate, Curry said.

HOUSTON - An investigation is underway following a deadly crash on Sam Houston Parkway on Wednesday evening. Details are limited, but officials said the crash occurred on Eastbound Sam Houston Parkway over U.S. 90. Authorities said a silver Nissan was disabled in a lane and was rear ended by a dually pickup truck. The driver of the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials added that the driver of the Nissan may have had a medical incident.

SMITH COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Three drivers are recovering after an early morning collision in Smith County left their tractor-trailers disabled along Interstate 40. According to Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP), the incident took place at mile marker 252 on I-40 East just before 4:45 a.m. on Wednesday, March 22. Officials said a 2018 Freightliner tractor cab was traveling east along I-40 when it drifted out of its lane and crashed into a 2012 Kenworth tractor cab and a 2016 Volvo tractor cab parked on the right shoulder.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) – Two people were taken to the hospital after a three-vehicle crash in east Harris County on Tuesday morning. According to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, one vehicle was jumpstarting another in the middle of the roadway on Sralla Road at FM-1942 when a third vehicle struck them. One person was taken to the hospital via Life Flight in critical condition and a second person was transported by ambulance in stable condition, Gonzalez said.

The crash occurred around 8:30 p.m. in the southbound lanes of Route 23 near the Island Road overpass. The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office said a Lincoln, driven by 69-year-old Paul Wegmeyer, of Columbus, was struck from behind by another driver in a Jeep. Initial reports indicated Wegmeyer was stopped on Route 23 with his vehicle’s lights off when he was hit, according to the sheriff’s office.

Hampton, TN – March 19, 2023, one person was injured due to an accident where an 18-wheeler hit a pickup on Highway 19E. Tennessee Highway Patrol officials said they were called to the area of the crash early Sunday morning. It appears a pickup going northbound on US Highway 19E broke down and moved “partially out of the roadway.” The vehicle had its emergency lights on, authorities said. Approaching it, an 18-wheeler allegedly failed to exercise due care and crashed into the pickup.
