Woman killed after getting out of stopped car on I-110, Baton Rouge Police say
A woman who got out of a car that had slowed and stopped on South Interstate 110 to look for a lost item died when the car was rear-ended by another vehicle, Baton Rouge Police reported late Thursday night. Najia Doucette, 24, died at the scene of the 11:09 p.m. Wednesday crash, which remains under investigation by BRPD’s traffic homicide detectives, police spokesman Sgt. L’Jean McKneely reported.

An 8-year-old Winthrop girl was seriously injured when she was struck by a pickup in Winthrop Monday evening. The State Patrol says the child was taken to HCMC in Minneapolis for treatment of life-threatening injuries. The Patrol says the child was a passenger in a semi that was parked on the shoulder of Highway 19 near North Redwood Street when she stepped into the roadway and was hit by the pickup.

A man standing beside a vehicle that had stopped in the middle of Interstate 880 died early Monday morning after being hit by a passing vehicle, according to the California Highway Patrol. The man was killed around 3 a.m. on I-880 just south of 66th Avenue in Oakland during a chain-reaction crash that involved at least six vehicles, said Ofc. David Arias, a California Highway Patrol spokesman. His name has not been released, pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.

Beaver Township, OH — August 15, 2022, 29-year-old Nicholas Cyphert died when a van hit him and his semi-truck on the Ohio Turnpike in Beaver Township. Reports say the incident happened just before 4:00 a.m. on the turnpike near the ramp from Interstate 680. Preliminary investigation suggests Cyphert pulled his big rig over when one of its tires blew out, then exited to make repairs. He completed changing the tire and was walking to the back of the semi-trailer to retrieve his caution triangles when he and the truck were hit by a van passing by on the roadway.
