Life-saving technology was not working on a stretch of smart motorway where a driver died in a crash after breaking down, insiders have claimed. Road bosses were last night facing questions over whether the tragedy was avoidable after sources told the Daily Mail the radar had not been working for days. National Highways’ stopped vehicle detection (SVD) system is supposed to alert traffic officers to vehicles marooned in live traffic – which often happens on ‘all lane running’ smart motorways as their hard shoulders are permanently removed.

By WHIO Staff MIAMI TWP. — Two people were hurt, including one person with serious injuries, after a crash on southbound I-75 between West Carrollton and Miamisburg Wednesday morning, according to state troopers. The crash happened around 6:40 a.m. between the East Dixie Drive and state Route 725 exits. A purple Ford Focus, driven by Donnie Wilson, 31, of Dayton was traveling south behind a truck that was driving slower when he tried to pass the truck on the right shoulder, state troopers said in a media release.

OGDEN — A 3-year-old girl has died from her injuries after a crash that temporarily closed the freeway Wednesday morning. Just before 5 a.m., a series of pile-up crashes happened on Interstate 15 northbound, near 21st Street, in Ogden. The crashes included nine or 10 vehicles that caused multiple injuries and blocked traffic lanes. In one of the more serious crashes, a Hyundai passenger car lost control to the left, hit the center concrete barrier and came to rest facing the wrong way, Utah Highway Patrol troopers said.

One child is dead and seven more are injured after a collision between a stopped car and an oncoming semi truck in Florida on Tuesday afternoon. The accident happened on March 8th at around 2:30 p.m. in Broward County, Florida. According to Local 10 News, a total of nine people were riding in a Nissan sedan when it got a flat tire on Highway 27 near mile marker 47. The Nissan pulled over to the side of the road and called AAA but as they were waiting for assistance, an oncoming semi truck struck the stopped car, smashing the back of the vehicle.
