2 injured in string of wrecks on I-285 in Dunwoody
Two people were injured in a series of crashes that shutdown several eastbound lanes of I-285 for nearly two hours during the Friday morning commute, authorities said. The wrecks occurred shortly before 6:50 a.m. in the left lanes of the inner loop near Ashford Dunwoody Road, the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center reported. According to Dunwoody police, the first crash occurred when a black sedan lost control and hit the wall. Another car stopped to check on the driver, who was stopped in the far left lane, when a white sedan swerved to avoid the crash and also hit the median wall.

SALISBURY — In a final act of love, Ebony Evans-Kindle crawled into the back seat of the car on Aug. 27 to unlatch her daughter’s car seat right before the vehicle was struck and she was killed on Interstate 85. Evans-Kindle, 31, was driving a Mitsubishi Eclipse when the front right tire blew. She pulled the car onto the shoulder of the Yadkin River bridge and called her former partner, Maddy Rogers.

BAY COUNTY, Mich. - Troopers were called to the area of eastbound US-10, east of Nine Mile Road, for two separate crashes around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.Investigators say that an altercation occurred between a driver and passenger that was traveling eastbound on US-10.Police then say the driver, a 52-year-old female from Unionville, stopped and exited the vehicle, and began walking eastbound on US-10. The passenger, a 34-year-old female from Unionville, attempted to drive the Equinox eastbound on US-10 and struck the 52-year-old female.

IBERIA PARISH, La. (KLFY) — A man who had exited his vehicle for unknown reasons was struck and killed on U.S. 90 near North College Road Sunday night, Aug. 30, according to Louisiana State Police Troop I. Chad James Maturin, 40, was a passenger in a car that had pulled over on the shoulder of the road. For unknown reasons, State Police say Maturin was in the center of the outside eastbound lane of the road when he was struck by an eastbound 2005 BMW two-door passenger car.

An Abbeville man standing in a roadway was killed late Sunday after a vehicle hit him. State Troopers ID’d the victim as Chad James Maturin, 40. Troopers’ investigation revealed Maturin was a passenger in a vehicle that pulled onto the shoulder of the road at U.S. Highway 90 and North College Road in Iberia Parish around 10 p.m. Troopers said Maturin left the vehicle and was standing in the middle of the outside, eastbound lane of Highway 90 when he was struck by an eastbound passenger vehicle.

A Chesterfield County man was killed early Monday when he stopped his vehicle in a southbound lane of Interstate 95 after it was struck by a stray tire that flew across the roadway, state police said. The crash unfolded at 5:18 a.m. after a passenger vehicle lost a tire as it was traveling north on I-95 at the 61 mile marker near West Hundred Road. The tire crossed over into the southbound lanes and struck Silverio Santos-Cesario’s Toyota Tacoma, damaging the vehicle and causing him to stop in the left southbound lane, police said.

According to reports, 53-year-old Ricky L. Reeves, of Columbia, was found dead after he crashed his motorcycle into a tractor trailer truck and was hit by two vehicles. Reeves was traveling eastbound on I-70 between the 130.6 mile marker and the 130.8 mile marker and collided into the back of the tractor trailer truck. Steven R. Fish, 64, of Greenville, South Carolina was said to be driving the truck and pulled over on the highway after the crash.

MOYOCK, N.C. — Law enforcement officers are investigating a hit and run after two people were killed early Sunday on N.C. 168 in Moyock. A pedestrian was struck and killed about 2 a.m. Sunday, said Currituck Sheriff Matt Beickert. The vehicle left the scene.Investigators are searching for a mid-1990s model Toyota Camry, he said. Shortly after, a pedestrian who stopped to help the first victim was struck and killed by another vehicle, Beickert said.

A 7-year-old boy is dead after his family’s vehicle was struck by another car while pulled over on I-83 on Saturday morning, Maryland State Police said. The victim was identified as Brian Smith III, of New York state.Police said their preliminary investigation determined the family of five was traveling southbound on I-83, north of Belfast Road, around 6:15 a.m. when their vehicle pulled to the shoulder so the father could tend to a child in the backseat.

One person is dead after a three-car collision Thursday night on Interstate 85 near the line between Davidson and Rowan counties, according to the highway patrol. Ebony Josephine Evans, 31, of Lexington, was driving south on Interstate 85 near Highway 150 when her car broke down, said Trooper Ned Moultrie with the highway patrol. Evans pulled over to the right shoulder. Around 10: 30 p.m, Michael Allen Moore, 42, of Ashland, Virginia, was driving a tractor trailer with a load that extended over the right side of the truck.
