Chillicothe woman killed in Pickaway County crash
PICKAWAY COUNTY, Ohio - A Chillicothe woman was killed after a crash Monday morning in Pickaway County. The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office says around 9:45 a.m., police received a call about a crash on US 23 North just south of Orr Road. Police say a car driven by 41-year-old Christina Hertenstein had become disabled. According to police, a truck with a wide load was also driving north on US 23.

Jeremiah Cribb, 24, was driving a FedEx truck early on Wednesday morning on Interstate 85 in Rowan County when he saw a driver stranded in the fast lane, news outlets reported. Cribb said he got out to help the driver but soon noticed a tractor-trailer barreling toward them, so he jumped out of the way to avoid getting hit. Cribb thought he was jumping onto a grass median of the same height but instead jumped off the Yadkin River Bridge and landed on a sandbar 75 feet below.

Newton police are investigating an accident that left a 40-year-old woman in critical condition. Police said a car hit a power pole in the 1600 block of South Kansas Avenue around 10:15 p.m. Saturday. A woman stopped to help the driver, who was having a medical problem. A passing semi hit some downed power lines and the lines then struck the woman outside the car. Kristy Hermstein was taken to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, where she was in critical but stable condition.

NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, Texas (KETK) – DPS is investigating the death of a pedestrian after he was struck by a tractor semi-trailer near Nacogdoches. DPS has identified the victim as Ethan Smith, 23, of Nacogdoches. According to DPS, the incident occurred Friday morning on U.S. Hwy 59 South about 12 miles north of Nacogdoches. A disabled vehicle was parked on the side of the highway in the southbound shoulder. For what DPS describes as “unknown reasons,” Smith left the vehicle and walked into the southbound lane, where he was hit by a tractor semi-trailer.

SAN MATEO — A driver who stopped on a California highway to check on people involved in a three-car pile-up was struck in a hit-and-run and killed early Friday. The Mercury News of San Jose, California reports a man driving a blue Scion crashed around 2 a.m. Friday while traveling south on Highway 101 in San Mateo, just south of San Francisco. California Highway Patrol officials say they do not know why he crashed.

A good Samaritan who was trying to help following a crash on Highway 101 in San Mateo early Friday morning was struck and killed by another driver who fled the scene, according to the California Highway Patrol. The pedestrian, who was identified as a man in his 20s or early 30s, was hit around 2 a.m. just north of 3rd Avenue as he was standing on the highway apparently assisting another driver who had just been involved in a solo-vehicle wreck, the CHP said.

Two people were killed in a massive pileup involving about 200 vehicles on a busy highway south of Montreal, according to Canadian police. Authorities confirmed that the two people, who have not been identified, had been traveling in the same vehicle when it collided with a tank truck on Wednesday during the 200-car pileup in La Prairie, Quebec. Stéphane Tremblay, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec said the pair were trapped in their car for hours after the crash before emergency services could pull them from the wreckage.

OTTAWA, Kan. (AP) – A Wichita man who was changing a flat tire along the shoulder of an interstate in northeast Kansas died Tuesday after he was hit by a semi-trailer truck, the Kansas Highway Patrol said. Sidney Leroy Huff, 73, died while changing the tire on Interstate 35 in Franklin County, about 5 miles from Ottawa, the patrol said. The driver of the truck drove over a white edge line of the light lane and struck Huff, the patrol report said.

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) — One person has died after their vehicle was hit twice by two tractor-trailers early Sunday morning. According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, around 2:10 a.m., a Buick and a tractor-trailer were traveling eastbound along I-26 near mile marker 113. Authorities said the Buick hit the rear of the tractor-trailer, spun around and overturned several times before becoming disabled on the interstate. After the first collision, the Buick was then struck by a second tractor-trailer.

One man is hospitalized after he and another man were struck by a vehicle on highway 38 two miles west of Marshfield late Saturday night. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says both had exited their cars after one broke down when a third vehicle smashed into the back of the first car, causing it to hit the second car, causing it to hit the men. Everyone else involved sustained minor injuries.
