Plant City woman, 80, arrested after hitting, killing man helping motorist, troopers say
PLANT CITY — Edith Marie Marcus told investigators she thought she hit a pothole as she passed a stopped car on a dark stretch of U.S. 92 one evening in November, records show. She kept driving. But Marcus, 80, had struck with her Mercury Grand Marquis a man who’d stopped to help a woman who had car trouble. A beloved local musician and his wife died after their car seemingly broke down on a desert road in California, leaving family members with questions, according to multiple reports. The bodies of an adult male and female were discovered east of California City near Proctor Boulevard and 150th Street on Sunday, according to a statement released by the Kern County Sheriff’s Office. The male victim was located in the front seat of the vehicle, while the female victim was leaning up against one of the car’s tires, the sheriff’s office said.

The Minnesota State Patrol is trying to determine why a Brooklyn Center man stopped his pickup truck in a lane of traffic late at night in Plymouth, leading to the death of another driver. According to the State Patrol, the driver of an SUV crashed into a Ford Ranger stopped in the right lane on southbound Highway 169 at about 9:40 p.m. Monday. The SUV driver, identified as 67-year-old Glenn Miller of New Hope, was killed.

Vernon, CT — August 22, 2022, truck driver Travis Dorsey was seriously injured in a crash between two 18-wheelers on Interstate 84 in Vernon. According to reports the incident happened around 7:30 a.m. on I-84 east between exits 64 and 65. Preliminary investigation suggests Dorsey was driving east on the interstate near exit 65 when he allegedly drifted out of the right lane onto the shoulder and hit the back of a parked big rig.

Lorena Police Department Chief Tom Dickson tells FOX 44 News that at approximately 3:45 a.m. Monday, the department was notified of a crash on Interstate 35 near Mile Marker #324. Two people inside of a 2012 Ford pickup truck were traveling northbound on I-35 – when the pickup struck the back of an 18-wheeler and was disabled in the main traffic lane.

MIDWAY, Ga. - Georgia State Patrol says one person is dead after she and her vehicle were hit by a car Monday morning in Midway. According to GSP, troopers responded at 8:34 a.m. to a report of a two-vehicle crash with injuries on North Coastal Highway. Authorities say the 32-year-old female driver of a white 2019 WV Jetta had stopped on the shoulder of the road and was either opening or closing the trunk.

A Texas woman is hospitalized in critical condition after being struck by a hit-and-run driver, moments after she crashed along a highway, according to the San Antonio Police Department. The 30-year-old was driving along Interstate Highway 35 around 3 a.m. Monday, Aug. 22, when she swerved to avoid hitting a bicyclist, according to an SAPD news release. She apparently lost control and crashed into a guardrail on the left side of the road.

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – A 72-year-old Orlando man was hit and killed on Interstate 4 early Sunday morning after he exited his vehicle following a prior crash near mile marker 118 in Volusia County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Troopers said the incident began at 1:57 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-4 near State Road 44 after the front left tire of man’s Ford Explorer blew, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway and strike the inside guardrail.

Nova Scotia RCMP say they’re investigating a hit-and-run involving a transport truck on a highway in Smith’s Cove. Police say around 10 p.m. on Friday night, on Highway 101, a Dodge Caravan pulled over on the shoulder of the road. The driver opened the door of the caravan to switch seats with a passenger when a transport truck hit the open door. RCMP say the caravan driver sustained “non-life-threatening injuries,” but the transport truck failed to stop.

A woman was hit and killed by a truck early Saturday morning while standing outside her car by the side of Route 140 in New Bedford, Massachusetts, according authorities. The crash happened around 2:30 a.m. Saturday, when the victim pulled over her Toyota Avalon by the side of Route 140 North, and was apparently outside her car, according to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office. Authorities aren’t sure why she was outside the car.
