Police identify 25-year-old who died after stepping into path of semi on I-65N in Scott County
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – Indiana State Police is investigating after a man was struck and killed by a semi-truck on I-65N in Scott County, Indiana, early Monday after he stepped out of his vehicle following a crash. According to a news release from ISP, 911 calls reporting the crash started coming in just before 3 a.m. about the accident near mile marker 34, not far from Austin. When officers from the Austin, Indiana Police Department and Indiana State Troopers arrived at the scene, they found the victim, 25-year-old Stefan Porch of Matteson, Illinois.

SISSETON, S.D. — Authorities have identified a man who was struck and killed while changing a tire on Interstate 29 near Sisseton. The South Dakota Highway Patrol says 78-year-old Gerald Bartell, of Herman, Minnesota, was pronounced dead at the scene of the Tuesday afternoon crash. The patrol says Bartell had pulled over to the shoulder and was kneeling near the pickup on the driver’s side when a man driving a semi-trailer struck both the vehicle and Bartell.

RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) – A 17-year-old girl has died after being hit by a hit-and-run driver in Raleigh Friday night, according to North Carolina State Highway Patrol. The incident happened along the 1500 block of Old Milburnie Road just before 7:30 p.m.Troopers said a vehicle carrying five people was stopped on the side of the road. Four of the people in the car were standing in the road, as the group tried to fix a flat tire on the vehicle.

A 68-year-old Lynnwood man died after being struck by a car on Interstate 5 in Thurston County on Friday night. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:21 p.m., a Washington State Patrol press memo said. A disabled vehicle was stopped and blocking traffic in the left lane of I-5 near Maytown Road, south of Olympia, WSP Trooper Ryan Burke said.The driver got out of the car, before a car driving in the left lane struck the disabled vehicle and the driver, a State Patrol news memo said.

A Queens man faces a slew of charges — including criminally negligent homicide — after authorities say he drove away from a crash in late January on the Nassau Expressway that killed an East Atlantic Beach resident standing on the road’s shoulder helping another motorist. Kevin Drawhorne, 27, of Jamaica, Queens, was arraigned Wednesday on charges that also included leaving the scene of an incident without reporting it, speeding and driving without a license, Queens County District Attorney Melinda Katz said in a statement Thursday.

A 20-year-old woman was seriously injured on the Garden State Parkway early Friday when a passing vehicle struck her disabled car and pushed it into her, authorities said. The woman’s car got stuck in the northbound express lanes near milepost 120 in Aberdeen at about 2 a.m., State Police said. She was hit while standing outside her car. The 35-year-old man driving the other car was not hurt, police said. Emergency workers brought the injured woman to an area hospital.

PENDLETON, Ind. (WANE) A crash Thursday evening night sent an Indiana woman and Texas man to the hospital and forced the closure of a section of I-69 for around three and a half hours. According to Indiana State Police, around 10:10 PM emergency crews responded to the 217 mile marker of I-69 north bound for a two vehicle crash with possible injury. Troopers arrived at the scene and found a blue Chrysler Sebring with severe damage to the driver’s side on the right shoulder.

NJ State Police are looking into the cause of a crash that caused injuries on the Garden State Parkway in Monmouth County Friday morning. Officials said the crash occurred at 2:06 a.m. in the Garden State Parkway northbound express lanes in Aberdeen Township. Police say the preliminary investigation indicated that in the area of milepost 120, a Subaru Legacy became disabled in the express lanes and a Kia Stinger traveling northbound struck the disabled car, which then hit the driver who was standing outside of the vehicle.
