Tulsa crash on westbound I-44 leaves 1 dead, worker injured
TULSA, Okla. -A Tulsa man was killed and a construction worker was injured Friday morning in a crash on westbound Interstate 44 near the U.S. 75 interchange, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. A 63-year-old man standing on the shoulder of Route 15 in Sparta was struck and killed by a passing commercial vehicle after his car broke down Tuesday night, authorities said. The driver was on the northbound shoulder near milepost 9 when he was hit at about 8:30 p.m., Sparta police said. The man was pronounced dead at an area hospital. His identity will be provided after family notifications are complete.

LANDERS — A man who stepped onto Old Woman Springs Road early Thursday was hit and killed by a Bureau of Land Management officer in a patrol truck, the CHP said. A routine roadside assist on the New York State Thruway turned violent when a passing car spun out and slammed into a parked State Police patrol vehicle in Erie County. Shortly before 2 a.m. on Feb. 7, two New York State Police troopers stood outside their patrol car on the left shoulder of the westbound Thruway in Lancaster while helping a disabled motorist, police said. A Kia sedan traveling westbound lost control, spun, and struck the rear of the patrol car, which had its emergency lights activated.

A New York State trooper was injured early Saturday morning after a passing vehicle slid into a parked patrol car on the Thruway while officers were helping a disabled driver. State Police say the incident happened shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday on the westbound shoulder in Lancaster, Erie County. Two troopers were outside their marked patrol vehicle assisting a motorist when a Kia sedan lost control, spun out, and hit the rear of the patrol car, which had its emergency lights on.

BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. — A traffic collision on Highway 70 at the Highway 149 split left two people injured Monday afternoon. The California Highway Patrol responded to the scene around 12:36 p.m. According to CHP, a vehicle ended up disabled in the center median with a female driver trapped inside. A second vehicle involved sustained significant rear-end damage and was located on the right shoulder. The crash occurred during Caltrans roadway work, which had caused lane closures and slowed traffic.
