Man Crashes Car, Struck and Killed While Standing on the Road
ROSEVILLE – A man is dead after crashing his car in the Twin Cities. The Minnesota State Patrol says a Honda Accord was speeding when it spun out of control and hit a guardrail on westbound Highway 36 in Roseville. The driver then got out of the vehicle and was standing in the middle of the road. A passing car stopped to help and that’s when a Toyota Carolla that was in the right lane moved over to the left lane due to the other passing car that was parked on the right shoulder.

A 54-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run crash around 3:45 a.m. Wednesday on Artesia Boulevard at the 710 Freeway overpass, police said. The man, Darnell Bluitt of Compton, was reportedly pushing a disabled Acura sedan from behind when a GMC truck struck him and the Acura, according to Brandon Fahey, a spokesperson for the Long Beach Police Department. Bluitt died at the scene, according to the LBPD, but another man who’d been helping push the car escaped uninjured.

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - A Toledo man died Wednesday evening after he was struck by a car while walking on the shoulder of I-475 away from his disabled vehicle. Michael Bowman was traveling west on I-475 past Secor Rd. when he was approaching stopped traffic. Bowman, 56, couldn’t stop in time and pulled onto the shoulder to avoid a collision. Jeffery M. Freyer, 67, was walking from his disabled vehicle on the north shoulder when he was hit by Bowman’s car.

The first crash involved a car and tractor-trailer. While the truck driver was checking on the victims, he was hit and killed ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — The highway patrol has released the names of the three people who were killed in a series of crashes on Interstate 270 early Wednesday morning. It all started around 12:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes near Big Bend Road in Kirkwood. The Missouri State Highway Patrol described the incident as a multi-crash scene, meaning one crash triggered another crash that led to another one.

FAIRMONT CITY — One person is dead after striking a parked vehicle on Illinois 111 on Wednesday morning. At about 4 a.m., Illinois State Police responded to Illinois 111 north of Interstate 55/Interstate 70 where the driver of a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt struck an unoccupied 2008 Ford Ranger.According to state police, the Ranger was parked abandoned on the right shoulder of Illinois 111 northbound north of I-55/70 and, for some unknown reasons, the Cobalt traveled off the roadway and hit the rear of the Ranger.

An Oakville man was hit by a car while trying to help other people after a crash on Interstate 84 in Southington and has died, according to state police. Andy Azab, 62, of Oakville, was on Interstate 84 West, near the exit 28 on-ramp around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, where he was helping people in a vehicle that was stopped on the left side of the highway after a prior crash when he was hit by a Nissan Altima, state police said.

MILAM COUNTY, Texas (KBTX) - The Texas Department of Public Safety says a woman was killed Tuesday morning while she was trying to help jump-start a disabled car on the side of Highway 79. According to authorities, the car was parked on the shoulder. Stephanie Louisa Torres-Herrera, 29, of Taylor, was part of a group that stopped to help. Troopers say she was looking for supplies in the trunk of the broken-down vehicle when a semi-truck drifted onto the shoulder and hit Torres-Herrera.

The grieving family of a Good Samaritan teen who was tragically killed say they aren’t surprised he spent his final moments trying to help others. A close-knit community in central-west NSW has been rocked by the death of John Keegan, 15 after he was hit by a truck on Friday night near a dangerous intersection. The year 10 student had been a passenger in his friend’s Toyota ute when it rear-ended a BMW waiting to turn right off the Mitchell Highway near Orange in what was described as a ‘minor crash’.

A Ferndale man who stopped to help a disabled driver along Kendall Road was hospitalized early Sunday after he was struck by a hit-and-run driver, according to the Washington State Patrol. Anton G. Vasilchenko, 21, was transported to St. Joseph hospital in Bellingham with injuries he suffered in the incident, according to the State Patrol report. Vasilchenko had stopped to assist a disabled vehicle at approximately 1:07 a.m. July 4 southbound on State Route 547 near milepost 1 in Kendall, according to the report, when he was struck by an unknown car that fled the scene.

In an accident on Saturday evening, one person was killed in a crash involving multiple vehicles on the N2 in the vicinity of Zinkwazi. Paul Herbst, of IPSS Medical Rescue, said paramedics were met with “chaos on scene”. “Reports from scene indicate that a vehicle had allegedly broken down and was being pushed to safety, when it was rear-ended.
