Man Struck Twice, Killed On I-75 After Vehicle Breaks Down
Authorities say a Garden City man whose car broke down on I-75 was hit by two vehicles and killed as he tried to cross the freeway. The incident happened around 10:30 p.m. Thursday along northbound I-75 just south of Swan Creek Road in Berlin Township. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department says the 64-year-old victim left his disabled vehicle along the roadway and was walking across the freeway when he was struck by a Ford Explorer that was traveling in the center lane.

A 26-year-old Naperville man was killed Monday night in a three-vehicle crash on southbound Interstate 55. The crash occurred at 6:23 p.m. just south of Lemont Road, according to the Illinois State Police. A news release said Naperville resident Hunter G. Johnnic was driving a 2011 silver Volkswagen when he struck the rear of a 2012 gray Honda driven by Juan D. Castillo-Tobar, 23, of Bolingbrook. Johnnic’s vehicle then became disabled in traffic and was struck by a 2017 gray Jeep driven by Mitchel R.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Authorities in Polk County say a man was killed after being struck by a car on Saturday. According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded around 11 a.m. to a report of a crash on US Highway 8, just east of the Hwy 46 North junction. Upon arrival, authorities located a man being attended to by good samaritans and emergency medical personnel. Officials say it appears the man had stopped his vehicle on the north shoulder of Hwy 8, exiting his car and entering the travel lane to pick up a piece of metal that was laying in the road.

Good Samaritan had stopped to help after car broke down on W. Beltway near Wilson Jacksonville, Fl — A tragic series of events and two families are mourning the loss of life. Two men, ages 19 and 21, were killed while attempting to push a car out of traffic on the West Beltway north of Wilson. It happened around 2am Sunday after the car had broken down. FHP says a Good Samaritan stopped to help the men when they were hit by the car.

If there are cars all around traveling at highway speed, the best option may be to stay in your car, with your seatbelt on, until help arrives. If it’s safe in all directions, officers say you should run for the shoulder.

MANSFIELD, N.J. (AP) – A motorist who got out of his disabled vehicle on the New Jersey Turnpike was struck and killed by two tractor-trailers and a car.State police say 22-year-old Jahmir Scott, of Allentown, was pronounced dead after being hit early Tuesday in the northbound truck lanes near milepost 51.6 in Mansfield.Scott was traveling by himself when he stopped his vehicle. It wasn’t immediately clear why it became disabled.The drivers of the three vehicles that struck Scott stopped and are cooperating with investigators.

HAGERSTOWN, Md. — Twin 4-year-old girls were struck by separate vehicles while attempting to cross Interstate 70 in Hagerstown, Maryland, Monday night, Maryland State Police said. Troopers were called to I-70 near Crystal Falls Drive around 7:30 p.m. for a reported vehicle accident involving two children, police said. Investigators report that a family was traveling westbound on I-70 near Crystal Falls Drive when they pulled to the right shoulder so the children could go to the bathroom.

BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — One disabled motorist that slid off the roadway Tuesday set in motion an incident that led to three vehicles crashing and two people landing in the hospital. At about 8 a.m., Idaho State Police said one 68-year-old driver in a Ford F150 pulled over and backed up on the highway to check on a disabled motorist who had slid off the roadway. A 53-year-old driver in a Chevy Traverse hit the rear of the Ford F150.

Maryland State Police are requesting the public’s help in identifying and locating a vehicle and driver involved in a hit and run crash on I-95 in Howard County Sunday night that critically injured three people. Police said a series of three crashes occurred between approximately 9:15 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on southbound I-95 near Rt. 100. The first crash occurred when a 2020 Nissan Armada struck a deer and traveled onto the left shoulder and struck the guardrail.
