Port Orange man dies in crash with disabled vehicle on I-95 in St. Johns County

A 52-year-old Port Orange man died when he crashed into a disabled vehicle Friday morning on I-95 in St. Johns County, the Florida Highway Patrol said. The fatal wreck happened around 10:30 a.m. on I-95 north at mile marker 321. The FHP said the man was driving a car north on I-95 in the left shoulder/emergency lane and struck the back of a disabled vehicle that was unoccupied. The driver, who was wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene, the FHP said.

PARADISE VALLEY, Ariz. — Former Paradise Valley police chief John Wintersteen, 78, and another man were killed over the weekend in a pedestrian crash while trying to help his dog, 12News has learned. Wintersteen was a Marine Corps veteran and career law enforcement official. The Paradise Valley Police Department said the incident happened on Sunday near 46th Street and Lincoln Drive. According to early reports, the dog was initially hit by 47-year-old Nooraly Lalji who stopped his car and got out to help.

A Lawton woman was hospitalized following a single-vehicle collision south of Ninnekah according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP). The woman was driving eastbound on the outside lane of the H.E. Bailey Turnpike just before 5:30 a.m. on Sunday. She swerved into the inside lane to avoid hitting a pedestrian on the shoulder of the road. A woman survived being stranded in her pickup for several days in the Angeles National Forest after she crashed more than 200 feet down a hill during inclement weather and cold conditions. Firefighters are calling the woman’s survival a miracle since she was trapped in her Ford Ranger for nearly five days with no cellphone reception to call for help. LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Nebraska State Patrol has identified the woman who died Friday night following a fiery crash on Highway 77. Severine Bouckongou, 44, died after being hit by a vehicle as she ran from the crash. Several agencies responded to the scene around 7 p.m. near Hwy 77 and Pioneers Boulevard. Alaska State Troopers said two people were found dead in their vehicle on the Steese Highway in Interior Alaska late Wednesday after howling winds created snowdrifts that made travel all but impossible. Troopers in an update Friday afternoon said they recovered the bodies of the two adults from the vehicle at Eagle Summit on the highway with the help of state transportation crews. PAYSON, Utah — An early morning highway crash in Utah County claimed the lives of two people, while a 15-year-old teenager was critically injured. The crash happened around 1:20 a.m. about one mile South of Payson in the northbound lanes of Interstate 15. Utah Highway Patrol told FOX 13 News the crash involved a semi-truck as well as a Honda Civic. Initially, a semi-truck drifted off the road to the left and overcorrected back to the right, which caused the driver to lose control and roll the semi-truck on its side.
