Troopers: Foggy roads trigger 37-vehicle pileup that closed Glenn Highway for hours
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Foggy driving conditions along the Glenn Highway on Thursday morning contributed to a massive pileup that closed the busy roadway for several hours. Alaska State Troopers wrote in a dispatch they were notified around 10:30 a.m. of a collision in the southbound lanes of the Glenn Highway at mile 30 on the Knik River bridge. All told, 37 vehicles were involved in the collision near Reflections Lake near the bridge.

A woman stranded in Livermore, California, spent 15 hours on a submerged vehicle before being rescued. A camper near Del Valle Road called the Alameda County Fire Department after finding the woman on top of her overturned car that was submerged in a swift-moving creek. She was rescued with the help of a California Highway Patrol helicopter that was able to lower a technician to grab the woman and pull her up to safety.

LAS VEGAS, NV (January 24, 2024) – Early Saturday morning, Suzanne Chapel died in a two-car accident on Cheyenne Avenue. Authorities responded to the scene around 2:15 a.m., near Interstate 15 on January 13th. According to reports, a 2015 BMW was disabled on the northbound left shoulder. The driver of a 2020 Chevrolet pickup-truck then veered off the road and struck the BMW, pushing both vehicles into the center median.

A Florida man was hit and killed in a traffic incident early Monday morning in Callaway County. At 1:51 a.m., Jonas J. Baptiste, 40, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, stopped his vehicle on westbound Interstate 70 and stepped out. As he did so, he was hit by a 2023 Freightliner semi-truck driven by Marcus A. Boards, 42, of Escondido, California, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report. He was killed by the impact.

HARTLAND TWP, Mich. (WXYZ) — Michigan State Police (MSP) are investigating after a fatal crash Wednesday involving three vehicles in Livingston County. On January 24 at approximately 1:25 am, MSP troopers were dispatched following reports of a vehicle crash in the area of northbound US-23 near Clyde Road in Hartland Township. Once on the scene, troopers found a vehicle occupied by a 33-year-old female from Grand Blanc disabled on the shoulder of northbound US-23.

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. — Back-to-back crashes late Tuesday night left I-495 backed up and one person dead in Prince George’s County. Troopers with Maryland State Police (MSP)‘s College Park Barrack responded to the outer loop of Interstate 495 south of U.S. Route 50 just before midnight for a multi-vehicle crash. Through an initial investigation, it was determined that a Toyota Camry struck a Toyota Sienna and both vehicles became disabled.

OSAGE BEACH, Mo. (KY3) - The Osage Beach Police Department identified the pedestrian struck and killed by a vehicle. Zachariah S. Breeden, 30, of Rocky Mount, Mo., died in the crash. Officers responded to an area near the Grand Glaize Bridge on U.S. 54 around 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Investigators say he was being picked up by a driver in the far right lane when another driver did not see the parked car with hazard lights and crashed into it.

A young girl died after she was injured when a car crashed into the back of her father’s car on a Minnesota highway. The Minnesota State Patrol said a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder rear-ended a 2006 Ford Focus that had stalled in the left lane of Eastbound Highway 36 at Lake Elmo Avenue just before 9 p.m. on Saturday, according to an incident report viewed by PEOPLE. Four people were transported to Regions Hospital following the crash, including 5-year-old Morgan Rae Peterson, who later died of her injuries, per the incident report.

DETROIT (FOX 2) - A man was killed after he got out of a vehicle after a crash on an I-96 freeway ramp early Saturday. Police responded to a single-car crash on the I-96 exit ramp to Outer Drive in Detroit around 12:35 a.m. While looking for the initial crash scene, they found a man lying on the ramp. The victim, who was a 41-year-old from Detroit, was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

SAN ANTONIO - A good samaritan was trying to help someone stranded on the highway when things turned for the worse on the Northeast side. According to the San Antonio Police Department, the accident happened near the 2900 block of IH 35 North around 8 p.m. Saturday. Police share that a 55-year-old woman was standing in front of her Jeep helping a stranded driver. The woman parked her Jeep in lane three and partially on the right shoulder to help the driver with some jumper cables.
