Motorist killed fixing vehicle on Southern California freeway
A motorist attempting to fix their disabled vehicle was struck and killed by another car on the 91 Freeway in Orange County early Monday. The crash was reported just after midnight when the victim’s vehicle was stopped on the westbound shoulder of the freeway between Green River Drive and the 241 Freeway. California Highway Patrol officials said the motorist was outside working on their car and was struck when another motorist lost control of their vehicle, stringer service OnScene.

KANSAS CITY—Two people died in an accident just after 11a.m. Sunday in Kansas City. A Hino box truck was northbound on Interstate 435 at U.S. 200 in Kansas City, according to KCPD Officer Alayna Gonzalez. The truck rear-ended a Ford Fusion that may have been slowing down or stopped in the #3 lane of travel. The driver and rear seat passenger in the Ford Fusion were pronounced dead at the scene, according to Gonzalez.

TACOMA, Wash. - A man whose car was stopped on I-5 died in a hit-and-run crash early Saturday morning. According to Washington State Patrol (WSP), one vehicle was stopped in two lanes of I-5, facing perpendicular on southbound I-5 near the State Route 16 interchange. Another car was traveling down I-5 and struck the stopped vehicle. WSP says a 39-year-old man from Temple, Texas, was the driver of the car that was stopped, and he was killed in the crash.

NICHOLAS COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -One person died in a crash in Nicholas County on Friday night, according to West Virginia State Police. Troopers said David Erikson, of Eight Four, Pennsylvania, died after the car he was driving struck an unloaded log truck along South Route 19 near the crest of Powells Mountain, near Birch River. Nicholas County 911 received a report of the crash just after 9 p.m. on Friday.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A Lake Isabella woman was killed after veering off the road and crashing into the back of a pickup truck along Highway 58 on Thursday, according to the California Highway Patrol. The California Highway Patrol said officers responded to a collision involving two vehicles on Highway 58, west of Washington Street, just after 12:19 p.m. Investigators said an 85-year-old woman was traveling westbound on Highway 58 just west of Washington Street when for unknown reasons, she veered out of traffic lanes and into the back of a pickup truck stopped on the right hand shoulder of the road.

JONES COUNTY, Miss. (WHLT) – One person was killed during a crash on Interstate 59 in Jones County. Firefighters responded to the scene around 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 28 on I-59 near the 105 mile-marker. When firefighters arrived at the location, officials with the Jones County Fire Council said they found debris from the road to the black sedan, which was 200-300 feet off the road and down an embankment.

PALMETTO, Fla. — A deadly crash involving a semi-truck happened early Friday morning in Palmetto near the intersection with Piney Point Road. A 35-year-old Ruskin man driving a Land Rover was traveling south on U.S. 41 at high speed when he lost control, according to a news release from the Florida Highway Patrol. He rear-ended a commercial motor vehicle parked on the side of the road loaded with bananas. The driver of the car died in the crash, according to the North River Fire District.

IRON COUNTY, Utah (KABC) – It was a close call for some travelers on a Utah interstate who narrowly avoided being hit by a semi truck. The motorists’ car had broken down on the highway and they were standing next to it on the road as the semi approached at full speed. A highway patrolman can be seen trying to flag down the semi before scrambling out of the way.

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Family members say a 20-year-old Georgia State student who wanted to be a lawyer was killed in a crash in DeKalb County last week. Zuriel-Alice Emambo Ngome, who family members called “Ema,” was killed March 16 in a multi-car pile-up on I-285 near I-675. The crash happened around 5:16 a.m. after another the car Ngome was a passenger in hit another car, crashed into a median wall and then was hit by another car head-on.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A woman standing outside her disabled vehicle on I-95 is dead after being struck by two vehicles Sunday morning, a Florida Highway Patrol report said. A 21-year-old woman was “standing on the left, yellow painted edge line and her vehicle was blocking the left and center lanes of I-95 near mile marker 332 around 4:50 a.m. The report said An SUV swerved to avoid the car and struck the victim.
