Body Found in Submerged Car That Belongs to Fla. Teacher Who Went Missing 2 and a Half Years Ago
Florida authorities said a car that belongs to Creekside Middle School teacher Robert Heikka, who disappeared in October 2020, and a body were found in a canal along in Volusia County Authorities in Florida say a car owned by a middle school teacher who vanished in 2020 has been found in a local canal with a body inside. Robert Heikka’s car was discovered in the water along Pioneer Trail in Volusia County, between State Roads 44 and 415, according to a statement from the Volusia Sheriff’s Office (VSO).

MARION COUNTY, Texas — A missing Texas woman was found alive inside a vehicle that was submerged underwater, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. The woman had been missing since Wednesday, April 5. She was found two days later when a fisherman noticed a black Jeep submerged about 40 feet away from a boat ramp, deputies said. In pictures released by authorities, the only visible part of the Jeep was part of its roof.

One woman was killed and another was seriously injured after they were struck by a vehicle on Interstate 4 while they waited next to their vehicle, which had been disabled from a prior accident. The fatal accident took place on Saturday, April 8, at around 5:52 a.m., near mile marker 90 on I-4 east. According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, two 20-year-old women, one from Edgewater and one from Daytona Beach, were standing outside of their 2014 Ford Focus.

SAN DIEGO — Two pedestrians were seriously hurt Friday when they were hit by a vehicle in the Ocean Beach neighborhood, authorities said. The hit-and-run crash occurred around 5:43 p.m. in the 4700 block of Greene Street, Sgt. Clint Leisz with the San Diego Police Department said in a news release. A man and woman, both 31 years old, were in the process of unloading luggage from their parked rental black 2022 Nissan Altima SV along the right side of the roadway, when an unknown driver traveling eastbound on Greene Street made an unsafe movement to the right and struck the pedestrians, according to SDPD.

SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KABC) – Two women have died after being ejected from a car on the 110 Freeway southbound in South Los Angeles. The vehicle veered off the road around 1 a.m. Thursday, striking a tree, causing the car to overturn and eject the two females in the car. The females were then run over by another vehicle driving down the 110 southbound. The initial crash involved only the one vehicle, a Nissan 4-door, and occurred near Gage Avenue in South L.

An Illinois man died at the hospital after a wreck on Interstate 24 in Trigg County Wednesday night. Kentucky State Police say an eastbound tractor-trailer driven by 62-year-old Dariusz J. Kowalewicz of Wheeling, Illinois, hit an unoccupied vehicle on the side of the road causing his truck to run off the road, overturn and hit several trees. Kowalewicz had to be extricated from his truck by the Trigg County Rescue Squad before he was transported to Tennova Healthcare in Clarksville by ambulance where he later died.

A 33-year-old Brockton man charged in connection with a deadly hit-and-run crash in West Bridgewater appeared in court Thursday after authorities said he turned himself in. The crash happened on Monday around 10:30 p.m. on Route 24 when prosecutors said a Toyota Scion allegedly driven by Juan Leonardo Parra Altamirano changed lanes and made contact with a Honda Accord driven by 46-year-old Erpharo Gilbert of Raynham. Police said the impact pushed Gilbert’s vehicle into a median, where it struck a concrete barrier.

(Abingdon, MD) – Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash in Harford County that claimed the life of a 22-year-old man. The deceased pedestrian is identified as Rajwinder Singh, 22, of Hicksville, New York. Emergency medical service personnel pronounced Singh deceased on the scene. Singh was the driver of a disabled Volvo tractor trailer parked on the shoulder with hazard lights illuminated at the time of the incident.

TULSA, Okla. — OHP is investigating a deadly crash where a sedan hit a semi-truck parked on the shoulder. OHP says the driver of the sedan was pinned for over two hours until the Kellyville and Sapulpa fire departments could remove them. Troopers are investigating the cause of the crash.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Florida Highway Patrol is investigating after a disabled vehicle was hit on the Dames Point Bridge late Sunday night. According to the crash report, a sedan was traveling north on I-295 on the Dames Point Bridge. The driver failed to see that a SUV was disabled due to a flat tire and was partially obstructing the right lane. The sedan hit the rear of the SUV, and after impact, both vehicles were disabled blocking the center and right northbound lanes on the bridge.
