Truck Accident Fatality on Highway 58 Near Mojave in Kern County
On December 24, 2023, the CHP reported a fatal big rig versus pedestrian crash on SR-58 in Kern County. The incident occurred shortly after 1:10 a.m. along the westbound side of State Route 58 in the vicinity of Tehachapi Boulevard, officials said. A preliminary report indicated that a California City man, age 61, was standing by their vehicle after being involved in a separate accident. A Fresno man, age 23, was behind the wheel of a combination tractor-trailer and allegedly struck the individual on foot.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — One person was severely injured during a hit-and-run near downtown early Sunday morning, according to the Columbus Division of Police. Police said an adult was standing within the travel lanes of Interstate 71 northbound, just north of Interstate 670 at approximately 2:25 a.m. That person was in a crash beforehand, and had driven their vehicle to this location where the car became disabled along the concrete center divider.

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — A Jacksonville man is dead after hitting a disabled vehicle Sunday morning on I-95 near International Golf Parkway, according to Florida Highway Patrol. FDOT said emergency vehicles in St. Johns County were on I-95 south at International Golf Parkway with all lanes closed with severity listed as “major.” The crash was near mile marker 321. According to FHP’s report, a sedan driven by a 45-year-old Jacksonville man traveled off the roadway onto the right shoulder and collided with a parked disabled vehicle.

RACINE COUNTY, Wis. - Three vehicles were involved in a crash on I-94 in Racine County on Saturday night, Dec. 30. It happened near County Highway G around 7:30 p.m. The sheriff’s office said it started with a disabled vehicle in traffic. A second vehicle struck the disabled vehicle before hitting a third vehicle that was passing the scene, according to the sheriff’s office. Minor injuries were reported. The sheriff’s office does not suspect impairment for anyone involved.

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. — A 28-year-old New Bedford, Massachusetts, woman died Friday in a multi-vehicle crash on Route 140, the Bristol County District Attorney’s office said. The multi-vehicle crash happened on the southbound side of the highway near Exit 4 around 5:10 p.m. According to the DA’s office, Julia Luiz was driving a Toyota Camry when it apparently became disabled in the left lane. Investigators said Luiz was outside of her vehicle in the roadway when a 63-year-old New Bedford man driving a Toyota Rav4 struck Luiz’s disabled vehicle.

A Florida woman was hit by a car just after she fatally struck a man with her vehicle Wednesday night. A 58-year-old man was attempting to cross St. Petersburg’s Gandy Boulevard at around 10:30 p.m. when a 23-year-old driver hit him, authorities told local station WFLA. The woman got out of her vehicle to care for the man, but she was struck by a different motorist, also age 23, who was driving a Kia Optima.

DILLON COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A Jeep SUV passenger died Thursday evening when the vehicle rear-ended a disabled log truck on Highway 38 in Dillon County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol. The crash happened at about 6:20 p.m. near Camp Road, SCHP Master Trooper Mitchell Ridgeway said. The driver of the 2020 Jeep SUV was injured and taken to McLeod hospital in Dillon. The driver of the 2006 Freightliner truck was not hurt.

GRANITEVILLE, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - A wreck blocked several lanes on I-20 Thursday morning, according to authorities. The South Carolina Highway Patrol officers said officers arrived at 9:20 a.m. to an accident involving a pickup and a car on I-20 eastbound three miles east of exit 11. A 2023 Toyota Tacoma traveled off the road and struck a 2009 Toyota Camry that was disabled on the right shoulder, officials say. According to the South Carolina transportation traffic map, all lanes were reopened and the scene was cleared as of 10 a.

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) -The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office has identified the woman fatally struck by a vehicle on Christmas night near Goose Creek. Danubia Sevilla, 33, was pronounced dead on the scene when first responders arrived. According to the coroner’s office, Sevilla and a child were standing beside a disabled vehicle when they were hit by a 2007 Chevrolet pick-up around 6:50 p.m. Monday. The South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) said the incident happened on Howe Hall Road near Addison Drive.
