Attorney says woman stopped to help choking baby before driver struck them on I-75, killing baby
DAVIE, Fla. – The attorney for a woman injured in a crash that killed her baby along Interstate 75 says she had pulled over to tend to the infant before the fatal rear-end collision. Kristine Rivera’s baby Jace died after the white Ford truck crashed into their GMC. Rivera had pulled over to the shoulder near Griffin Road in Davie, with her hazards on, in order to to tend to the choking baby.

UPDATE (5/19): The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency released additional information about the crash that killed Francisco Morales. ALEA said the car he was driving left the road, struck and guardrail and overturned multiple times into a steep ditch. Morales was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the car. CONECUH COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — An investigation into the death of a Dade City, Fla. man is underway after he was found in a creek Thursday, according to a release from the Conecuh County Coroner’s Office.

Wichita County, Texas (May 19, 2023) – The two people who died following a multi-vehicle crash early Sunday morning in Wichita County have been identified as Francisco Sanchez Sustaita, 45, and Rocio Rodriguez Hernandez, 43, both of Chillicothe. The deadly crash happened at around 2:10 a.m. on Sunday, May 14, on U.S. Highway 287, about 0.5 miles west of Wichita Falls. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by Sustaita, was disabled in the northbound lanes after being involved in a separate crash.

On May 17th, at around 1:09am, multiple emergency agencies were dispatched to the northbound lanes of Highway 287 near County Road 2898 north of Alvord for a two-vehicle crash. Upon arrival, law enforcement observed two vehicles involved with major damage. A preliminary investigation determined one vehicle had become disabled and was partially sitting in one of the northbound lanes. A second vehicle, also traveling northbound, struck the disabled vehicle. The driver of the disabled vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A three-vehicle crash left one Mexico woman injured Monday afternoon in Callaway County. Kassie N. Phelps, of Holts Summit, was driving east on U.S. 54 south of Route TT when she hit the median cables, according to a Missouri Highway Patrol crash report. Rachel D. Goldthrite, of New Bloomfield, then hit Phelps’ 2015 Dodge Dart with her 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer. According to the report, Crystal L. Wood, of Mexico, then hit Goldthrite’s vehicle with her 2006 Ford Explorer, causing Goldthrite to hit Phelp’s vehicle again.

First responders from the Simpson and Covington County areas who knew Philip Allan said when he died, he was doing what he lived for: Helping people. Allan, a volunteer firefighter for multiple departments in that area was killed after being hit by a car on Highway 49 in Covington County while attempting to help victims of a car crash. Covington County Fire Coordinator John Pope said Allan was struck crossing the road as he attempted to help the people involved in the accident.

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Walton County Sheriff’s deputies said a huge turtle and a man trying to be a hero caused a multi-car pileup on Highway 331 in Florida. The dash camera in the 18-wheeler that went plowing through caught it all. Fortunately, nobody was seriously injured but there were many minor injuries and likely totaled cars. In the dash cam video you can see a man standing in the road, just outside of his Silverado truck.

The woman was killed after stopping to help another driver, who had been involved in a single-car crash on Interstate 880 in Fremont. It happened just after 2:30 a.m. on the off-ramp leading to Highway 262. California Highway Patrol says she was in a car that pulled over to help move the crashed vehicle to safety on the side of the road.

CHICAGO (CBS) – A multiple-vehicle crash on Saturday sent eight people, including three children, to the hospital, many of them with serious injuries, police said. The driver of the man who caused the crash has died, police said. The accident happened around 5 p.m. on Saturday near 122nd Street and Torrence Avenue. A man was driving a sedan northbound on Torrence when he went into oncoming traffic and struck an SUV head-on.
