Semitruck hits, kills Draper man on I-15 near Beaver

BEAVER — A Draper man died after he was struck by a semitruck on Friday while checking his engine at the side of Interstate 15 near Beaver. Utah Highway Patrol investigators say Joseph C. Hansen, 29, had pulled his vehicle onto the right shoulder of the southbound lanes of the freeway at the north end of Beaver. Hansen got out of his vehicle, apparently to check his engine, and walked to the front and lifted the hood, according to a UHP report.

LAPD sergeant hit, killed assisting crash victim on 405 Freeway

A veteran Los Angeles Police Department sergeant was struck and killed when he got out of his vehicle to assist with a collision on the 405 Freeway early Monday morning, officials said. Both collisions occurred around 2 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the 405 near Getty Center Drive. Authorities said Sgt. Shiou Deng came upon a recent collision on the 405 Freeway near Moraga Drive around 2 a.m. and stopped with his lights on to help.

Westbound I-90 reopens at SR 18 after deadly crash and confrontation, driver arrested

Westbound lanes of Interstate 90 were fully closed at State Route 18 Thursday afternoon because of a deadly crash, according to Washington State Patrol (WSP) troopers. WSP now says they’ve arrested a 42-year-old Sammamish man, who they believe is responsible for the crash. WSP reports that the suspect was driving a Toyota Sequoia when he hit and killed a person who was on the side of I-90. WSP says the victim, a 66-year-old man from Bellevue, may have been fixing the flat tire troopers noticed on the front wheel of his red sedan.

Person hit while jumpstarting disabled car in Allegan County

SAUGATUCK, Mich. — A person was injured early Sunday morning after being hit by a pickup truck while trying to jumpstart a disabled vehicle on the side of the road in Laketown Township. According to the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO), around 1:50 a.m. dispatch received multiple calls about a serious crash where a pickup truck struck a pedestrian on Blue Star Highway near 63rd Street. Deputies said the preliminary investigation shows the victim was reportedly attempting to jumpstart a disabled vehicle that was parked off the roadway.

Person killed in hit-and-run on shoulder of 71 Highway while getting car towed

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A person has died after they were hit by a car on the shoulder of a highway, the Kansas City Police Department reported Sunday. KCPD responded to the northbound lanes of 71 Highway at E. 39th Street shortly after midnight on June 22, around 12:20 a.m. An investigation revealed that the victim’s car was hooked up to a tow truck after it started having a mechanical issue.

Nebraska deputies investigate after pedestrian is hit, killed by semi

OTOE COUNTY, Neb. — The Otoe County Sheriff’s Office said a Florida man was hit and killed by a semi on Highway 2. The incident happened on Saturday around 12:30 p.m. near Highway 2 and County Road 42. The preliminary investigation found a semi driver had pulled over onto the shoulder because of a mechanical issue. The driver, 45-year-old Keith Brown of Florida, was hit when he was standing in the driving lane by another semi.

Semi Driver Struck, Killed Outside Vehicle in Long Beach Identified

The 47-year-old semi truck driver struck and killed by another semi truck when he was standing outside his vehicle in Long Beach was identified Friday. Officers responded Wednesday to the 2600 block of Pier T Avenue around 6:40 a.m. to reports of a collision investigation, according to the Long Beach Police Department. Long Beach Fire Department paramedics were already attending to the victim before the officers’ arrival, but despite efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah – A hazardous materials spill has shut down westbound I-80 at mile marker 145.8 early Tuesday morning, following a collision involving a semi-tanker truck, multiple vehicles, and an elk. According to the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT), the WB I-80 closure began at approximately 5:14 a.m. and is expected to start opening around 11 am if not sooner. The incident occurred when a vehicle traveling eastbound on I-80 hit an elk and became disabled, coming to a stop on the right shoulder.

McLennan County, TX — March 2, 2025, Jacob Hecker was injured due to a multi-vehicle car accident shortly before 11:45 p.m. along Interstate Highway 30. According to authorities, 24-year-old Jacob Hecker was traveling in a southbound Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck on I.H. 30 in the vicinity north of the 12th Street overpass when the accident took place. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the pickup truck had become disabled in the active lanes of the highway.

Boy, 12, killed after vehicle hits parked truck in Sherman Oaks

A 12-year-old boy died after the vehicle he was riding in collided with a parked moving truck in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles on Wednesday morning. The crash was reported at 10:17 a.m. in the 4000 block of N Woodman Avenue in Sherman Oaks, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. A driver crashed a vehicle into the parked moving van, resulting in the death of the boy who was in the front passenger seat.
