State police cruiser struck in Wells, officials say
A parked state police cruiser was heavily damaged Friday morning after being struck on the Maine Turnpike in Wells, officials said. State Troopers were investigating a crash where a vehicle had slid onto the highway median, according to Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon. The driver of that vehicle was not injured. Three troopers were parked with emergency lights on to divert traffic away from the median, according to Moss.

HOUSTON – A woman was killed while checking the tire on her vehicle on Thursday night. She was hit by another car on I-610 near Broad Street. This happened a little before 10 p.m. Houston police said the woman stopped her vehicle in the middle of the freeway, got out of her car, and went to inspect her tire. That’s when she was hit by an oncoming vehicle. First responders say the woman who died is believed to be in her late 20s to early 30s, and at the time we posted this story, she had not been identified.

RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Virginia State Police is investigating a multi-car crash on I-95 that sent multiple people to the hospital with minor injuries. VSP said a disabled vehicle stopped in the left lane before being struck by other cars. It triggered a chain reaction that ended up involving five cars, including a tractor-trailer which is now also disabled. All lanes are now reopened.

UXBRIDGE, Mass. (WJAR) — Community members were seen placing flowers Wednesday on a cruiser parked outside of the Uxbridge Police Department after they lost one of their own. Uxbridge Police Officer Stephen LaPorta was killed in the line of duty just before 1 a.m. Authorities said he was responding to a crash on Route 146 north, just before exit 6, when he was struck by a passing tractor-trailer. Police said LaPorta was outside of his vehicle.

A driver and his dog were killed this week in a crash on the New York State Thruway. The deadly accident happened around 5:15 p.m. Monday on Interstate 90 west in Albany in the Capital Region. David R. Hall, of Pittsfield, Massachusetts, was driving west on the Thruway when his SUV veered off the road and struck the back of a flatbed tractor-trailer that had stopped on the shoulder of the highway, the New York State Police said in a news release.

Idaho State Police said the crash happened around 2:51 p.m. at milepost 53 near Vista. Police said a 25-year-old Boise woman driving a 2021 Volkswagen Atlas rear-ended a 2021 International semi driven by a 37-year-old Caldwell man when the semi slowed for a disabled vehicle ahead. The Volkswagen also hit a 2002 Chevrolet S driven by a 25-year-old Meridian man.

The crash happened on a sunny November day along a wide, open stretch of US 87 just outside Dalhart. Lakeisha Brown, 19, Myunique Johnson, 20, Taylor White, 27, and Breanna Brantley, 30, were traveling home from Oklahoma when their car was struck from behind by an 18-wheeler.
