Driver seriously injured after slamming into semi on I-80/94, Indiana State Police say
GARY, Ind. (WLS) – A driver was seriously injured after crashing into a parked semi in northwest Indiana on Tuesday, according to Indiana State Police. The crash happened at about 7:40 a.m. on the westbound lanes of I-80/94 between Burr Street and Cline Avenue in Gary, police said. Chopper 7 was over the scene at 8:30 a.m. Police said the driver of a blue 1999 GMC Yukon was traveling on the right shoulder when it crashed into a disabled 2016 Freightliner.

Louisiana State Police troopers continue investigating a deadly crash that happened on the Basin Bridge in Iberville Parish. The crash happened around 2 a.m. near mile marker 128.3 at Whiskey Bay between the St. Martin & Iberville parish line. State Police says a driver in a pickup was involved in a crash, disabling his own truck in the westbound lane of travel. At the same time, a big rig hit that disabled truck.

A routine roadside assist on the New York State Thruway turned violent when a passing car spun out and slammed into a parked State Police patrol vehicle in Erie County. Shortly before 2 a.m. on Feb. 7, two New York State Police troopers stood outside their patrol car on the left shoulder of the westbound Thruway in Lancaster while helping a disabled motorist, police said. A Kia sedan traveling westbound lost control, spun, and struck the rear of the patrol car, which had its emergency lights activated.

A New York State trooper was injured early Saturday morning after a passing vehicle slid into a parked patrol car on the Thruway while officers were helping a disabled driver. State Police say the incident happened shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday on the westbound shoulder in Lancaster, Erie County. Two troopers were outside their marked patrol vehicle assisting a motorist when a Kia sedan lost control, spun out, and hit the rear of the patrol car, which had its emergency lights on.

BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. — A traffic collision on Highway 70 at the Highway 149 split left two people injured Monday afternoon. The California Highway Patrol responded to the scene around 12:36 p.m. According to CHP, a vehicle ended up disabled in the center median with a female driver trapped inside. A second vehicle involved sustained significant rear-end damage and was located on the right shoulder. The crash occurred during Caltrans roadway work, which had caused lane closures and slowed traffic.

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. — A Palm Coast woman was killed after crashing into a disabled car, which was blocking the left lane on I-95 in Flagler County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. State troopers said it happened just after midnight Monday morning on the northbound side of I-95 near Old Dixie Highway. They say a 23-year-old woman driving a sports utility vehicle drove off I-95 and hit a guardrail. The car then came to a stop and was disabled in the inside left lane, facing the wrong direction on I-95 (south).

Two people are dead after their semitrailer exploded when it hit another semi parked illegally on the side of Interstate 80 near Green River on Sunday. The crash scene “was a pretty bad one,” said Green River Fire Department Assistant Chief Larry Erdmann. “It was almost like a movie scene.” Usually with a highway crash involving fire, there’s debris scattered about, “Then if the vehicle catches fire, it’s down the road a little,” he told Cowboy State Daily on Monday morning.
