Driver hit on U.S. 421 near Guilford County–Forsyth County line after exiting vehicle to retrieve detached trailer
A man has died after being hit by a fire truck, according to troopers with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. A pickup truck was traveling on U.S. 421, towing a utility trailer, on Saturday, around 6:20 a.m. This was in Guilford County, near the Forsyth County line. Officials said the trailer became detached from the truck, and once the driver noticed, he moved to the shoulder and began backing up.

WESTPORT, Conn. (WFSB) - A New Haven man has died after being hit by a vehicle in Westport on early Monday morning. Troopers responded to the area near Exit 42 around 4:15 a.m. for a reported collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian, state police said. Following an investigation, it was revealed that a 50-year-old New Haven man who was traveling in a Chrysler Pacifica, struck a guardrail in the left side of the highway.

SALT LAKE CITY — An occupant of a Grand Cherokee that crashed and then was hit by another vehicle died at a hospital on Sunday. According to the Utah Department of Public Safety, the driver of the Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling west on I-84 near mile marker 103 (approximately 525 North) when, for an unknown reason, the vehicle left the roadway. Nearby, a semitruck described as having an enclosed trailer was stopped on the shoulder of I-84.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A person was killed and another was injured in a crash Saturday morning in Sacramento, the California Highway Patrol said. Emergency medical services were dispatched around 7:13 a.m. to the crash site on northbound I-5, just north of Sutterville Road in the Upper Land Park neighborhood. A pickup truck became disabled after losing a tire and was hit from behind by a big rig hauling two trailers that didn’t have enough time to evade.

GREENE COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — One person was charged Saturday following a multi-vehicle crash involving two semi-trucks on Interstate 81 south in Greene County. TDOT reported at around 3:30 p.m. that the southbound right lane was closed on I-81 after a crash near mile marker 19. The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) reported that a disabled semi-truck had been pulled over on the right shoulder of the road. While it was stopped there, another semi-truck traveling southbound veered off the road and sideswiped the stationary truck.

PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) – A Virginia State Police trooper was seriously injured when a patrol vehicle was struck by a vehicle on U.S. Highway 29 in Pittsylvania County Saturday afternoon. The incident occurred just after 2 p.m. as two troopers were assisting a disabled tractor-trailer on the southbound side of the highway. An investigation revealed a 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser, driven by Raul Jesus Salas, collided with the rear patrol vehicle, which then struck one of the troopers and the second patrol vehicle, according to state police.

HIGH POINT, N.C. — A 48-year-old woman was struck and killed by a vehicle Saturday night while checking on an injured animal in the roadway, High Point police said. Officers with the High Point Police Department, the High Point Fire Department, and Guilford County EMS responded around 9 p.m. to the 2800 block of Westchester Drive. Paramedics transported the victim, Tu Cam Phan, to Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, where she was pronounced dead.

Troopers confirmed a 60-year-old woman was driving from the Coral Road when she stopped in the westbound lane and alighted from her car. She was then struck by a westbound car operated by a 32-year-old Howard City man.
