Van hits disabled truck on US-131 before being hit by semi truck; 1 killed, 3 seriously injured
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — One person was killed and three others were seriously injured when their van hit a disabled pickup truck and was then hit by a semi on northbound US-131. The crash happened just before 6 a.m. on US-131 after I-196 (Exit #85 B). An unoccupied, disabled pickup truck was in the center lane of the highway, police say. The van hit the truck before being hit by a semi.

DeKalb County, AL — May 26, 2025, Cooper Hilyer was injured following a pedestrian versus truck accident at some point in the morning on Interstate Highway 59. According to authorities, the accident took place on I.H. 59 in the vicinity between State Highway 35 and U.S. Highway 11. Officials indicate that 18-year-old Cooper Hilyer had been assisting in getting another vehicle which had experienced a tire blowout out of the center median using a tow truck when the accident occurred.

HOUSTON – A multi-vehicle crash on the East Freeway Monday night claimed one woman’s life and sent three other drivers to a hospital. It happened just after 9:15 p.m. when investigators say a white sedan rolled to a stop on the eastbound lanes of the East Freeway just before Waco when it became disabled. A driver in an SUV, Sgt. Dallas, with the Houston PD’s Vehicular Crimes Division, said, was able to stop behind the car, but an 18-wheeler was unable to and crashed into the SUV, causing a chain reaction crash.

Roads have reopened after a crash involving a tanker truck and a Broward County bus left one person hurt and erupted into a massive fire on Interstate 595. It happened at around 10 a.m. Sunday, when a gasoline tanker that was traveling westbound on I-595 just east of Southwest 136th Avenue sideswiped a disabled and unoccupied Broward County Transit bus that was parked on the left shoulder, Florida Highway Patrol officials said.

EDWARDSVILLE, Kan. (KCTV) - An early-morning wreck involving just one car turned into a hit-and-run, law enforcement officials reported. The Kansas Highway Patrol responded to the scene — located in a construction zone on Interstate 435 and just south of Swartz Road —around 4:50 a.m. on May 24. A 20-year-old Topeka man was driving north on I-435 when he went off the left side of the road and crashed into a median barrier wall, disabling his 2018 Hyundai Elantra.

CAROLINE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A driver is dead after their vehicle crashed into a tractor-trailer on Interstate 95 southbound in Caroline County. At about 9:15 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, state troopers with Virginia State Police arrived at the scene of a crash on I-95 southbound at mile marker 108, around two miles south of the Ladysmith exit. State police learned that a tractor-trailer with biohazard medical waste was stopped on the right shoulder of the road for about 10 minutes when a black Subaru Outback hit it from the back at about 70 mph.

According to a statement, Jamal Ebron, 53, was outside his vehicle on the northbound side of Route 9 around 4:51 a.m. when he was hit by a Hyundai Kona. The Kona was driven by a 33-year-old man from Old Bridge.

Police say a 25-year-old man from Burton lost control of his vehicle and struck the right shoulder wall in the construction zone before.

A 17-year-old was thrown off a bridge and killed when a driver hit the disabled vehicle he was standing in front of in Oregon, troopers said. The crash was reported at 2:54 p.m. May 17 on Highway 140 in Klamath County, Oregon State Police said in a news release. The teen boy was a passenger in a Honda CRV driven by an 18-year-old woman, troopers said. When the SUV broke down, he went to the front to “diagnose the failure,” officers said.

According to a report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP), around 11 p.m., a tractor-trailer was traveling south on I-81 near Exit 57 and began to jackknife. The vehicle reportedly hit a sign and came to a rest blocking the right lane of I-81. Shortly after, a second tractor-trailer traveling in the right lane hit the disabled vehicle, THP stated.
