One in Critical Condition After I-65 Crash in Franklin
One man remains in critical condition after a crash on I-65 in Franklin on March 19, 2023. It happened just before 4:00 am, on I-65 South near the Goose Creek Bypass and Peytonsville Road interchange. For reasons unknown, the man’s vehicle was stopped in a lane of travel on the interstate when it was rear-ended by another motorist. The driver of the vehicle that was struck was found severely injured outside of his vehicle.

A South Florida man who was trying to help a motorist who had run out of gas was fatally struck by a vehicle Wednesday night, authorities said. Erick Veilleux, 41, was struck by a white Honda traveling south on State Road 7 in Lauderhill, the Sun-Sentinel reported. Veilleux had parked his car in a northbound lane of the highway shortly before 11 p.m. EDT, the Miami Herald reported. The impact of the crash sent Veilleux across the median and into his car, according to the Sun-Sentinel.

WHITE LAKE, S.D. — South Dakota Highway Patrol crews responded to a multi-vehicle pileup on I-90 near White Lake Friday evening after the highway was closed from Sioux Falls to Chamberlain. Highway patrol reports that around 12 passenger vehicles and 12 semi combinations were involved in the pileup. Additionally, an estimated 40 passenger vehicles and 30 semi combinations were stopped in the pileup and did not receive damage, with some entering the median to avoid collision.

A massive pileup along Interstate 96 in west Michigan over the weekend damaged dozens of cars but luckily no one was seriously injured. According to Michigan State Police, 86 cars were damaged and 66 slid off the road. No serious injuries were reported; 16 people were transported to the hospital, State Police tweeted. The crashes occurred around 4:30 p.m. Saturday on a five-mile stretch on eastbound I-96 near Grand River Avenue and Portland Road in Portland in Ionia County, according to MSP.

Investigators said that the incident happened at around 1:43 p.m. along I-71 in the area of mile marker 188. It appears that a Ford F-350 service truck was along the side of the interstate by a disabled semi. The Ford was said to have blocked the rightmost lane.

Plano police say they were called to multiple crashes on southbound US-75 at Legacy Drive around 9:30 p.m. March 13. During the first crash, a stalled vehicle with its hazard lights flashing was stopped in the third lane of US-75. A second vehicle was unable to stop in time and collided with the rear of the stalled vehicle.

BIRMINGHAM, AL, (March 12, 2023) - Enrique Aguilar Camilo was tragically struck and killed by a vehicle on March 12 on Interstate 65 in Birmingham. According to the Birmingham Police Department, Camilo’s vehicle became disabled in the northbound lanes near Green Springs Avenue at about 1:35 a.m. He was struck by another driver while standing outside his vehicle. Sadly, Camilo, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident remains under investigation.

TAMPA, Fla. - I-275 through downtown Tampa is moving once again after a multi-vehicle crash closed the interstate early Monday morning. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, an unloaded tractor-trailer was traveling northbound on I-275 near Ashley Drive around 2:40 a.m. with a Hyundai SUV traveling alongside it when they both came upon an existing crash. Troopers say the driver of the tractor-trailer, a 45-year-old man, heavily hit the brakes, which caused the tractor-trailer to jackknife, slide toward the median and collide with the right side of the SUV.

BIRMINGHAM – A Birmingham man was killed Saturday, March 11, when a vehicle struck him at the 100 block of Roebuck Drive, Birmingham, while he was waiting for assistance with his disabled vehicle, the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office announced. James Lee Brown Jr., 53, was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:02 a.m. “The decedent was the driver and lone occupant of a disabled motor vehicle in the 100 block of Roebuck Drive,” Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said.

McCracken County Sheriff’s deputies determined that a car and a pickup collided in the intersection. Then a secondary collision occurred when an SUV hit the car. The car’s driver, 86-year-old Wanda Hankins of Paducah, was taken to a local hospital.
