Man accused in connection with deadly West Bridgewater hit-and-run appears in court
A 33-year-old Brockton man charged in connection with a deadly hit-and-run crash in West Bridgewater appeared in court Thursday after authorities said he turned himself in. The crash happened on Monday around 10:30 p.m. on Route 24 when prosecutors said a Toyota Scion allegedly driven by Juan Leonardo Parra Altamirano changed lanes and made contact with a Honda Accord driven by 46-year-old Erpharo Gilbert of Raynham. Police said the impact pushed Gilbert’s vehicle into a median, where it struck a concrete barrier.

(Abingdon, MD) – Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash in Harford County that claimed the life of a 22-year-old man. The deceased pedestrian is identified as Rajwinder Singh, 22, of Hicksville, New York. Emergency medical service personnel pronounced Singh deceased on the scene. Singh was the driver of a disabled Volvo tractor trailer parked on the shoulder with hazard lights illuminated at the time of the incident.

TULSA, Okla. — OHP is investigating a deadly crash where a sedan hit a semi-truck parked on the shoulder. OHP says the driver of the sedan was pinned for over two hours until the Kellyville and Sapulpa fire departments could remove them. Troopers are investigating the cause of the crash.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Florida Highway Patrol is investigating after a disabled vehicle was hit on the Dames Point Bridge late Sunday night. According to the crash report, a sedan was traveling north on I-295 on the Dames Point Bridge. The driver failed to see that a SUV was disabled due to a flat tire and was partially obstructing the right lane. The sedan hit the rear of the SUV, and after impact, both vehicles were disabled blocking the center and right northbound lanes on the bridge.

NEW HAVEN, CT — State police are investigating after the driver of a semi truck was killed in a fiery crash on the Q bridge Sunday night. The fatal crash happened at around 8:30 p.m., on Interstate 95 northbound on the Pearl Harbor Memorial Bridge, just a half mile south of exit 50 in New Haven, according to the state police report. A 2008 Mazda, with a driver from Trumbull, was disabled with a flat tire on the right-hand shoulder of the highway when a Freightliner, registered to a Virginia man, collided with the Mazda, the report reads.

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly Brevard County crash involving a pedestrian. Troopers said the crash happened Sunday around 2:45 a.m. on the northbound lanes of Interstate 95 near the State Road 514 exit. According to troopers, a Toyota Camry had struck a tree on the shoulder and caught fire. The driver exited the car and was standing in the outside travel lane when another car was unable to avoid the pedestrian and struck her with his vehicle.

NEW ORLEANS ( WGNO ) — Two traffic lanes have been shut down after a fatal crash. It happened on I-10 Eastbound at Canal St. around 8 p.m. Reports say a man was hit by a car while he was waiting for assistance in a separate car accident. He was brought to a nearby hospital where he later died. The crash remains under investigation. At this time exits 234 Poydras Eastbound and 235 Westbank are shut down.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, two vehicles on Interstate 95 were traveling south when a sedan became disabled on the left lane causing a pickup truck to hit the rear. Due to the impact of the crash, the pick up truck was pushed forward while the sedan became engulfed into flames. The pick up truck came to final rest in the center grass median facing East. The sedan came to final rest in the left lane fully engulfed, facing South.

YAZOO COUNTY, Miss. (WLBT/Gray News) - Authorities in Mississippi are investigating a deadly collision where a man changing a tire on a highway was killed. WLBT reports that 27-year-old Robert Hamil died after he was struck by a vehicle while he was changing a flat tire on Thursday. According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, a Ford Focus hit Robert Hamil on Highway 16 in Yazoo County during the overnight hours.

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – A man who was struck by a car and killed on U.S. 131 was returning to his disabled vehicle after walking his children to the median, state police said. The victim was a 49-year-old Grand Rapids man. His name has not been released. The incident happened around 10 p.m. Thursday, March 30, on northbound U.S. 131 near Wealthy Street SE. State police believe that the man’s vehicle ran out of gas before he walked his children, ages 5 and 7, to the median.
