Motorcyclist dies after crashing into disabled vehicle on U.S. 54
UPDATE (2/15): A motorcyclist died after crashing into a disabled car in the middle lane of US 54. El Paso police say 61-year-old Anthony Lightbourn died at the scene. The driver of the car that had become disabled was on the right shoulder attempting to warn drivers. Police say the crash happened at 11:30 a.m. The collision was one of two accidents that happened around the same time near the same area.

LAKESIDE — Two people were killed and two were injured early Saturday when a car went off Interstate 8 in Lakeside and struck a tree on the right shoulder of the freeway, officials said. The driver, 44-year-old man, was heading west on I-8 east of Lake Jennings Park Road when for an unknown reason the 2005 Toyota Camry Solara veered off the road and struck the tree, the California Highway Patrol said.

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WPDE) — One person is dead after a car was found flipped into a retention pond, according top South Carolina Highway Patrol trooper Nick Pye. The driver of a 2017 Honda sedan was traveling north on Highway 17 and attempted to take the exit ramp to Highway 22, according to Pye. The driver ran off the road to the left and overturned into a retention pond, Pyse said.

A pickup truck driver hit a woman who had stopped to remove a mattress from Interstate 5, then sped away, Oregon State Police said. The woman stopped after spotting the mattress blocking a lane on a flyover near Eugene at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, state police said in a news release sent to McClatchy News. After removing the mattress, the woman was hit by a red pickup truck traveling at a high rate of speed while walking back to her vehicle, which had its hazard lights on, police said.

(WXYZ) — Michigan State Police tweeted a synopsis of multiple crashes that happened Sunday afternoon as snow moved through the area. According to MSP, on eastbound I-96 near Grand River, a driver got out of his vehicle to inspect the damage on his car after he was involved in an earlier crash. Another driver reportedly could not stop and struck the vehicle. MSP said that the pedestrian was pushed into a highway wall barrier by his vehicle.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – One person died in a hit-and-run crash that started as a two vehicle accident on the West Sam Houston Tollway around 2:30 a.m. Sunday. Investigators say one car rear ended the other before both vehicles pulled over to the side of the freeway. One car pulled over on the right shoulder and the other stopped partially in a lane, deputies say. Officials say one driver got out of his vehicle to look at damage that happened from the initial crash and was fatally struck by a third car that was driving erratically.

DAVIE, FLA. (WSVN) - Authorities are investigating a multi-vehicle crash along Interstate 595 in Davie that left one person dead and shut down all eastbound lanes for hours. Florida Highway Patrol units responded to the scene along the eastbound lanes just west of Davie Road, just after 5 a.m., Saturday. Investigators said a pickup truck and a semi-truck with a carnival ride towed in the back had been involved in a sideswiped collision and were stopped in center lanes when the driver of a van traveling east was unable to stop and rammed into the back of the semi-truck.

GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — A woman is dead after her car stopped on Interstate 40 west in Greensboro on Saturday morning. At 9:04 a.m., police responded to the crash on I-40 west, near Vanstory Street. Police say 79-year-old Lena Langley Thompson, of Greensboro, was driving a 1986 Nissan 300ZX west on I-40 when the vehicle stopped in the center lane. A Greensboro 21-year-old, driving a 2015 Chevrolet Sonic, hit the Nissan.

FARGO (KFGO) – The North Dakota Highway Patrol responded to multiple crashes along I-29 and I-94 on Friday, including two that resulted in injuries. The first injury crash happened just before 9 a.m. on southbound I-29 near the Gardner exit. The NDHP said a 43-year-old male from Fargo lost control of his car, causing it to come to rest across both southbound lanes. The driver exited his vehicle. A 41-year-old male from Forest River, driving a pickup truck, struck the car “in a sideswipe style collision” before a semi-truck, driven by a 26- year-old Fargo male, rear ended the car.

According to authorities, a semi-trailer was at a stop on 4th Street with its harzard lights on reportedly waiting to turn into the Tums facility.
