Hagerstown man 1 of 2 truckers killed helping crash victims on I-81 in Berkeley Co.
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Two truck drivers who stopped to help at the scene of a crash along southbound Interstate 81 in Berkeley County were struck and killed by an SUV Thursday morning, according to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office. Adam T. Miller, 53, of Hagerstown, and Ashish P. Patel, 46, of Ontario, Canada, were pronounced dead at the scene, police said in a news release. In an email accompanying the release, Sheriff Nathan Harmon said the situation was one of the worst he had seen in his career.

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) – One person is dead after a crash involving a car and a semi-truck early Thursday morning on Interstate 11 southbound at Horizon Drive. About 2:48 a.m. on July 1, an adult male semi-truck driver had pulled off to the shoulder of I-11 southbound after the vehicle reported mechanical issues. The driver was outside of the truck making a call to a mechanic at the time of the crash, according to Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Ashlee Wellman.

CHICAGO (CBS) — A driver suffered life-threatening injuries upon crashing into a commercial vehicle on the shoulder of the Edens Expressway at Cicero Avenue late Thursday. Illinois State Police said a car struck the rear end of the unspecified commercial vehicle, which was parked on the right shoulder. The driver, who was alone in the car, was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. As of early Thursday evening, the middle and right lanes were shut down near the scene, while the left lane remained open.

A Woodbury man was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries after his vehicle collided with a parked tractor trailer Thursday morning in Islandia, Suffolk County police said. Stephen Sherman was driving a 2013 Nissan Altima eastbound on Veterans Memorial Highway when his vehicle left the roadway near Old Nichols Road at 7:33 a.m. and hit the rear of a disabled 2017 International tractor trailer parked on the shoulder with hazard lights on, police said.

A metro man was killed in a hit-and-run crash early Wednesday in Kansas City, authorities said. Just before 4:30 a.m., officers were called to a two car crash just north of where Interstate 435 crosses Eastwood Trafficway, according to a news release from the Kansas City Police Department. Police said a Toyota RAV4 was stopped on the right shoulder of the highway when a Chevrolet Traverse headed southbound rear-ended the parked Toyota.

A person described by Louisiana State Police as an unidentified Hispanic male is dead following a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 shortly before 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday. According to a press release from LSP spokesman Trooper Thomas Gossen, the crash happened on I-10 Westbound near Butte La Rose in St. Martin Parish after the now-dead driver got out of his Mercedes-Benz sedan after his vehicle was struck from behind by a Honda Pilot SUV being driven by Jose Gonzalez of Houston, Texas.

No hazard lights no brake lights, nothing. He was parked.” Natale said. “If there was only one car to lessen the blow, instead of two, I doubt very much I’d be standing here.”

UPDATE (06/30) – The Tennessee Highway Patrol has released a report on the crash involving a deceased Jonesborough man who had been reported missing. The body of Nicholas Todd was discovered by hikers Monday in a crashed vehicle in Unicoi County. Unicoi County Sheriff Mike Hensley said the vehicle was found in a creek on Spivey Mountain several hundred yards down an embankment. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office confirmed on Tuesday that the body had been positively identified as Todd.

A 23-year-old passenger was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Route 1 in West Windsor early Saturday that injured four others, authorities said. A Volkswagen Passat was traveling south and veered off the road just before Carnegie Center Boulevard, hit a utility pole, a road sign, and then another utility pole before spinning back onto the roadway, disabled in the center lane, with its passenger side exposed to oncoming traffic, West Windsor police said.

DUBOIS COUNTY, Ind. (WEHT) – A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle and taken to the hospital after being hit by a vehicle Friday afternoon. The Dubois County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were on their way to help a driver with a broken down vehicle on State Road 56. Officials said they then received another call about a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle. The incident happened just east of County Road 400 East in Dubois.
