Benbrook mother, 3-year-old son hit, killed by vehicle as they left their disabled car
A Benbrook woman and her 3-year-old son were killed late Monday when they were hit by a car as they tried to move away from their disabled vehicle, which was in the middle of a Mesquite roadway, Mesquite police said. It was the fifth fatality crash so far this year in Mesquite, leaving seven people dead in 2022 compared with two fatality crashes for the same period in 2021 with two deaths.

Stamford, TX – February 14, 2022, Kenneth Pittman and Karl Berry were injured due to an accident where their vehicles collided. Investigators reported that the crash took place at around 6:12 a.m. along US 277 just off Gould Street. Officials said that 42-year-old Karly Berry was driving a Chevy Tahoe while 51-year-old Kenneth Pittman was the driver of a Dodge Ram 1500. In the initial reports, it appeared that the Tahoe drifted onto the median, then went back onto the highway and overturned.

Gainesville, TX – January 26, 2022, 59-year-old Lisa Cato was injured in a crash with a tractor-trailer on Interstate 35 in Cooke County. Authorities say the incident happened around 7:15 a.m. on I-35 near mile marker 497. Preliminary investigation suggests Cato’s Toyota Camry was stopped in the left lane of the highway after being disabled in a previous crash with a tractor-trailer. The truck driver parked his big rig partially on the right shoulder of the road and approached the car’s driver side to check on Cato.

WELLS, Nev. (KOLO) -A truck driver died Feb. 8 in a crash on Interstate 80 about 2 miles east of Wells in northeast Nevada, the Nevada State Police said. Edwin Jones, 41, of Cincinnati, Ohio, was driving a 2021 Kenworth tractor-trailer west on I-80 when it crashed into the trailer of another tractor-trailer that was on the right shoulder, NSP said. The trailer from the disabled vehicle was partly on the highway.

CAHOKIA HEIGHTS (KMOV) – Two people were taken to the hospital after they were injured in a series of crashes on Northbound I-255 in Cahokia Heights. Police said two vehicles were parked on the side of the highway when another vehicle hit one that was parked off the highway, causing one of the cars to run into a pedestrian. A car on the side of the roadway was then pushed into oncoming traffic and struck in a separate crash.

Northfield, WI – March 1, 2022, three people were injured in a collision with an overturned tractor-trailer on Interstate 94 near Northfield. Authorities say the incident happened around 2:40 a.m. on westbound I-94 near mile marker 97. Preliminary investigation suggests that a commercial 18-wheeler lost control and overturned on the roadway, blocking both westbound lanes. Shortly afterward an SUV crashed into the overturned truck. Three people were injured in the crash; two were airlifted to area hospitals and one was transported by ambulance.

Muhlenberg County, KY – February 24, 2022, Steven Beck and Aaron Martin were injured due to an accident where multiple trucks crashed on the highway. Authorities reported that the crash took place at around 5:30 a.m. along the Western Kentucky Parkway near mile marker 65. According to officials, a UPS truck traveling along the roadway lost control on the icy roads, hit the Green River Bridge, and came to a stop on westbound lanes.

A Louisiana man got out of his vehicle after he survived a minor collision in Metairie. Moments later, he was hit by a third vehicle. Chad James, 49, from Thibodaux, died on the scene, Louisiana State Police said in a news release. Manuel Llorens, 60, was traveling in his car on the right lane of the Interstate 10 near Clearview Parkway. At the same time, two cars were stopped on the right shoulder near the Clearview Parkway exit, west of downtown New Orleans.

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — The Independence Police Department is investigating a fatal crash involving a Tesla on Interstate 70 Sunday night. According to police, the Tesla broke down in the westbound center lane of the interstate, west of Little Blue Parkway, when it was struck by two other vehicles. The driver of the Tesla was pronounced dead at the scene and the passenger was taken to the hospital. The driver was identified as 74-year-old Terry Siegel.

Preliminary reports indicated that a box truck was disabled along travel lanes of the turnpike. A semi-truck then crashed into that truck, causing it to jackknife.
