Police officer hit by truck on highway, killed
Lieutenant Daniel John Friz has been with the MCPD for more than 18 years, and according to neighbors had three young daughters. LISBON, Md. — A 50-year-old off-duty Montgomery County police Lieutenant was killed after being hit by a truck while he was outside his car along Interstate 70 in Lisbon, Maryland. Lieutenant Daniel John Friz was pronounced dead at the scene. At around 12:13 a.m. on Monday, Maryland State Police were called to the scene of a serious crash on I-70 west of Route 94 in Howard County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a semi involved in a hit-and-run fatality accident on Interstate 35 in Franklin County on Friday night. According to the patrol, a Jeep and Dodge Ram traveling southbound became involved in a road rage incident. The driver of the Dodge Ram began tailgating the Jeep, would speed up and drive beside the Jeep, then slow down and get behind the Jeep.

BREAUX BRIDGE, La. — Two people were injured, one critically, in a crash that brought Interstate traffic to a standstill late Sunday into early Monday. The crash happened about 9 p.m. on the westbound side of the highway, just before Breaux Bridge.The details are still under investigation, but here’s what we know now. One vehicle became disabled, in the area where construction is happening and there are high concrete barricades. There were two people in that vehicle, and both were injured when two other vehicles came along and crashed into the disabled vehicle.

A woman who disappeared on a road trip to a California national forest with her dog has been found dead, according to the Reno Police Department. More than a month after she was last heard from, remains believed to be those of 32-year-old Courtney Bryan and her pet dog, Booch, were discovered in a car wreck off an embankment in Del Norte County, California. The crash site was discovered by a hiker, who alerted the California Highway Patrol.

An elderly San Diego man was apparently crushed to death on state Route 905 Saturday while trying to fix the trailer of a small fishing boat being towed by a pickup. The crash happened about 6:45 a.m. Saturday on westbound State Route 905 just east of Interstate 5, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Sal Castro. “A Chevy truck towing a small fishing boat had broken down and was partially blocking the slow lane of traffic,” Castro said.

A fatal multi-vehicle crash in Arlington closed all westbound lanes of Interstate 30 for several hours on Thursday morning. Police responded near Green Oaks Boulevard overpass around 4 a.m., a spokesperson from the Arlington Police Department said. One person, a 19-year-old man, was killed in the crash and three others were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The man who died was identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office as Adrian Arbaiza Andrade, of Plano.

Investigators were called to the scene of the crash at around 5:20 a.m. near mile marker 40. The events began when a Nissan Sentra traveling southbound on the interstate had a tire go flat. The Sentra then crashed into the guardrail. A Tesla, followed by a Volvo tractor-trailer, then hit the Sentra.

An overnight wreck involving eight vehicles left three people with minor injuries and breifly shut down all westbound traffic on I-10 in Jefferson County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The series of events that occurred around 1:50 a.m. Friday morning began when a sedan hit a dog, rendering it “inoperable” in the middle of the highway. Another sedan then crashed into the vehicle. Then a semi-tractor, driving in the inside lane, smashed into both cars before colliding with “the concrete barrier wall, causing a large debris field,” a FHP sergeant wrote in a narrative of the crash.

According to the CHP, two victims were rushed by ambulance to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills.

WINSLOW TWP, N.J. - A 53-year-old bus driver needed to be airlifted to the hospital after police say she rammed into a disabled bus on White Horse Pike early Thursday morning. A New Jersey Transit 554 line bus from Lindenwold to Atlantic was heading east on the rural highway around 6 a.m. when police say it rear-ended another bus that was disabled on the roadway. The driver of the bus was airlifted to Cooper University Hospital for her injuries, according to police.
