Driver strikes pedestrian outside of vehicle broke down on I-70
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A person was struck and seriously injured on Interstate 70 while their vehicle was broken down on the side of the road. The incident happened Wednesday around 10 p.m. on I-70 near the Kansas Speedway. The Kansas Turnpike Authority said a 2015 Mazda CX5 was westbound in the inside lane. A 2007 Dodge Nitro was disabled on the shoulder. The Mazda ended up hitting the Dodge person outside of the disabled vehicle.

A 22-year-old woman was killed after her stopped car in an intersection was struck by an 18-wheeler on Queen City Parkway in Gainesville, police said. Irlanda Vargas, of Gainesville, died early Thursday at Northeast Georgia Medical Center after a crash near the intersection at West Ridge Road. About 12:10 a.m., Vargas was driving south in a Ford with two passengers on Queen City Parkway and tried to turn left onto West Ridge Road, Gainesville Police said.

Chambers County, TX – September 25, 2021, a man was killed and Ray Navarro Jr. was injured due to an accident where a tractor-trailer hit them. Authorities reported that the crash took place at around 4:00 a.m. along I-10 near FM 3180. In their reports, officials said that 26-year-old Ray Navarro Jr. was in a Hyundai Elantra that was stationary on eastbound I-10. A 43-year-old Houston man was standing outside Navarro’s vehicle.

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A 67-year-old man has died after he was hit by a vehicle in Clarksville Tuesday night. The crash happened on Tiny Town Road near Green Acres Drive. Clarksville police reported John Hill-Nicholson was traveling eastbound on Tiny Town Road when some items he was hauling in a trailer fell out onto the roadway. He stopped in the center of the road and got out of his vehicle to gather them, according to crash investigators.

TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) — A driver died after getting hit by a tractor-trailer while walking away from his crashed vehicle on the Inner Dispersal Loop in Tulsa. Troopers say it happened around 11:15 p.m. on US Highway 412 at L.L. Tisdale Parkway. According to Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a man was driving southbound on the Tisdale when he attempted to take the ramp to go eastbound on the north leg of the IDL, but he lost control of his car and crashed into the concrete barrier on the ramp.

A fatal crash on southbound Interstate 5 near the Main Gate of Joint Base Lewis-McChord caused traffic delays Wednesday morning. The right two lanes of traffic were blocked due the collision, reported at about 6:40 a.m. A driver died after colliding with a semi truck, Washington State Patrol trooper Robert Reyer said. Traffic was backed up all the way to state Route 512 in Lakewood by about 9:10 a.m. Reyers said a pickup traveling south in the left lane crossed all lanes of traffic going right and struck the left rear of the semi’s trailer.

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A driver was killed Monday after a truck crashed into a disabled vehicle on a highway in Selma, according to the California Highway Patrol. The crash happened around 4 p.m. in the area of Highway 99 and Floral Avenue. While investigating, officers say they learned that a 27-year-old man was sitting in his car in the center divider of the highway, causing traffic to move slowly prior to the crash.

NEWTOWN — State police said a Hartford woman whose car broke down was killed when she was struck by a truck on Interstate 84 early Monday morning.State police identified the victim as Samantha Figueroa, 22. The Mercury sedan Figueroa was driving had broken down in the left lane of the highway traveling east near Exit 13 around 3:30 a.m., according to an accident summary from state police. Figueroa had exited the car and was standing in the left lane “attempting to flag down passing vehicles,” when she and her car were struck by a Mack truck that was negotiating a curve, the accident report stated.
