UPDATE: No injuries in Colchester I-89 North tractor trailer crash
Vermont State Police said on Saturday that strong winds caused Friday night’s crash on Interstate 89 north in Colchester. A Plattsburgh man pulled over into the breakdown lane and called for help about a half-mile south of Exit 17 when his van overheated. Shortly before 9:00 p.m., while he was waiting for help to arrive, police said a Quebec man driving a tractor trailer lost control of his rig due to the wind.

Murfreesboro, TN – January 12, 2022, 59-year-old Frances Woodall was killed in a collision with a disabled tractor-trailer on Interstate 24 in Rutherford County. Authorities say the incident happened around 12:25 p.m. along I-24 at mile marker 80 near Salem Highway. Preliminary investigation suggests a commercial 18-wheeler was disabled in the second-to-the-left lane after experiencing an unspecified mechanical failure. As the truck sat in the lane it was reportedly rear-ended by Woodall’s westbound Nissan Pathfinder.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – A man was killed in a crash that started with his girlfriend grabbing the wheel on the Gulf Freeway overnight, police said. The crash happened in the northbound lanes of I-45 south at Lockwood before 3 a.m., according to Houston police. Investigators said the initial accident happened because a female passenger grabbed the steering wheel and drove the vehicle into the wall. When the boyfriend, who was the driver, got out after the crash and stood on the freeway, police said a pickup truck hit and killed him.

A Philadelphia man was seriously injured after he was struck by a vehicle while working on a disabled car in Bristol Township. This week, Pennsylvania State Police released information on the hit-and-run crash that occurred on I-95 just before the Bristol exit in on New Year’s Day around 12:48 a.m. Troopers said the 27-year-old Philadelphia man was working on a disabled vehicle and standing partially in the left lane of travel.

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A woman was struck and killed Wednesday morning on I-4 near Sand Lake Road after she exited her vehicle and walked into the path of oncoming traffic, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash occurred at 1:45 a.m. after the woman had parked on the shoulder of I-4 west, left her vehicle and stood beside it, troopers said. The woman walked into the path of an oncoming car for an unknown reason and was struck, troopers said.

CHARLESTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 71-year-old man from Battle Creek is dead after what state troopers are calling a hit-and-run crash on I-94 Tuesday night. Michigan State Police says the crash happened in Charleston Township near mile marker 87. We’re told the victim’s pickup truck was stopped along the right shoulder after the driver encountered vehicular difficulties. Authorities say another vehicle side-swiped the pickup while the victim stood outside. The force of the impact shoved the pickup into the driver, killing him, MSP explains.

Omaha police are investigating a 21-year-old driver who hit an Air Force veteran who was parked on Interstate 80 near 60th Street with a flat tire Saturday afternoon. Police say they’re looking into alcohol and speeding as factors in the crash that killed 76-year-old Tim Flaherty. His daughter, Susan Flaherty, said he was working a shift for Physician’s Laboratory Services. “He worked about three days a week just to keep himself active and have something to do,” Susan said.

Authorities say the incident happened just after 2:00 p.m. on southbound I-15 near the Stoddard Wells Road off-ramp. Preliminary investigation suggests a commercial 18-wheeler was pulled onto the shoulder of the roadway in the area while the driver changed a tire. He told investigators that as he worked on the tire a red sedan approached from the road and crashed into the back of his truck’s trailer.

Authorities say the incident happened shortly before 11:45 p.m. along Orla Road south of Royce Lane. Preliminary investigation suggests a commercial tractor-trailer became stuck in the dirt on the roadway, blocking both traffic lanes. Reports indicate a number of motorists including Dominguez stopped to help the truck driver.
