One child dead, 7 injured after semi truck slams into packed car stopped on side of road
One child is dead and seven more are injured after a collision between a stopped car and an oncoming semi truck in Florida on Tuesday afternoon. The accident happened on March 8th at around 2:30 p.m. in Broward County, Florida. According to Local 10 News, a total of nine people were riding in a Nissan sedan when it got a flat tire on Highway 27 near mile marker 47. The Nissan pulled over to the side of the road and called AAA but as they were waiting for assistance, an oncoming semi truck struck the stopped car, smashing the back of the vehicle.

Eastbound lanes of Interstate 84 in Oregon reopened more than six hours after a fatal crash about six miles west of La Grande on Wednesday closed the roadway. The crash required a police investigation, which meant a lengthy closure, the Oregon Department of Transportation said. Investigators reported that the crash took place just after noon along I-10 near mile marker 714. In their reports, authorities said that a man was in a Chevy Silverado traveling westbound on the interstate. There was debris in the roadway, and the pickup came to a stop, followed by an 18-wheeler.

A man driving a Ford Econoline was traveling the same direction when the Ford veered right and struck the pedestrian, authorities said.

Topeka police said at the scene that three separate crashes occurred at that location as cars were hitting icy spots on the roadway. In one crash, police said, a brown car that had been traveling west on I-470 went off the off-ramp leading to Fairlawn.

He explained that a woman and her fiancé lost control south of the Pleasant Grove Boulevard exit, and their car hit the jersey barrier next to the far-right lane.

Shortly after, an SUV crashed into the semi-truck, wedging itself stuck under the large vehicle. Paramedics took the motorist to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead, CHP public affairs Officer Salvador Castro said.
