Woman that stopped to help crash victim was hit and killed by driver who took off
FOWLER, Calif. (FOX26) — A good Samaritan that stopped to help an injured driver is now dead after being hit by a vehicle in Fresno County on Wednesday. CHP responded to a crash involving a Hyundai sedan and a semi-truck on Highway 99 at Manning Ave. around 12:20 a.m. The driver of the Hyundai had major injuries from the crash and the car was disabled and blocking the number one lane of the highway.

Another person was also killed in a separate wreck on I-285 near Lawrenceville Highway. DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — DeKalb County Police said four people died in a multi-vehicle wreck early Monday morning. It happened at around 1 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 285 near Moreland Avenue. Police said there were at least four vehicles involved. The victims, who range in age from “late teens” to “late 40s,” were outside their vehicles and were struck, police said.

Two men were struck by a car after they had stopped to render aid to a driver who had crashed just a few moments earlier on Interstate 70’s Belle Vernon-Speers Bridge Saturday morning, according to state police. The first crash, according to Trooper Robert Broadwater, occurred about 6:40 a.m., when the driver of a minivan struck the barrier in the right eastbound lane at the beginning of the bridge. Broadwater said police are not sure what caused the crash, but the vehicle became disabled in the left lane.

COBB COUNTY, GA — A Marietta man crashed his car into a concrete barrier on I-285 near Powers Ferry Road early Sunday, Cobb police said. He’s now been charged with vehicular homicide in addition to other crimes. Around 2:25 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 7, 23-year-old Rony Perez-Lucas of Marietta was driving a maroon 2002 Toyota Tundra eastbound on the interstate, east of Powers Ferry Road and approaching the Fulton County line, according to the Cobb County Police Department.

One person was killed Tuesday morning after a pickup truck crashed into the back of a vehicle that was stopped on a Midlands road, the South Carolina Highway Patrol said. James Edward Joe died at the scene, Sumter County Coroner Robbie Baker said. The two-vehicle collision happened at about 6:30 a.m. on U.S. 378, near the intersection with Wise Drive, according to Master Trooper David Jones. That’s near Prisma Health Tuomey hospital in Sumter.

OTTAWA, Kan. (WIBW) - An Emporia woman was seriously injured Saturday evening after she was struck by a car while standing outside a vehicle that was parked along Interstate 35 in Franklin County, authorities said. The collision was reported at 5:53 p.m. Saturday on I-35 on the east side of Ottawa. The location was about a half-mile south of K-68 highway. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2016 Honda Fit was northbound on I-35 when the driver lost control of the car on icy roads.

Icy roads led to at least two multi-vehicle pileups Monday morning in Oklahoma City as roadways around the city froze over. A 15-car pileup happened at about 7:30 a.m. CST on Interstate 40 at Mustang Road, KOKH reported. A second, 25-vehicle pileup was reported about an hour later on Oklahoma City Boulevard, near I-40 and S. Agnew Avenue, KOKH said. The second pileup involved an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper, the station reported.

Troopers responded to the crash on FM 2837 and Chapel Road, west of Hewitt just before 8 p.m. A Jeep crashed into a Chevrolet Sonic that failed to yield right of way to the Jeep, according to the DPS.
