Four hurt in I-94 10-car pileup started by semi-truck collision
Four people were hurt after a 10-vehicle pileup happened along I-94 early Tuesday morning. A preliminary investigation determined that a three semi truck collision started a chain reaction, which caused seven crashes and five slide-offs on the highway between mile marker 46 and 56, according to Michigan State Police (MSP). “Any time there is whiteout conditions, icy roads, if people would just slow down, the likelihood of the crash would go way down,” MSP First Lieutenant Rusty Ernstes said.

MUSKEGON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A freeway in Muskegon County was closed for roughly two hours after a multi-vehicle pile-up during heavy snow. US-31 south was blocked after the interchange with M-120 in Muskegon Township. At least 13 vehicles were involved in crashes in the riverflats area where the freeway crosses the Muskegon River. At least one person was injured, according to Muskegon Township Police Chief Tim Thielbar. He said officers were focused on trying to slow other vehicles on the freeway down to prevent more crashes on US-31.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – Officials across the Houston area are urging drivers to stay off the roads heading into Tuesday night as temperatures are expected to drop below freezing. On Tuesday afternoon, the icy and snowy roads began to melt, but still, the conditions weren’t safe enough to drive regularly. A driver hit a man who was pushing a stranded vehicle in northeast Houston, according to investigators. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said two men were pushing a stranded vehicle on the downside of the overpass on FM 1960 and Atascocita.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Up to 15 vehicles were involved in a crash that closed eastbound I-96 near M-37 Monday morning. It reopened around 1.5 hours later. Several vehicles were smashed in the median, a box truck was overturned and a semi-truck was wedged in the ditch. Kent County dispatch confirms there were reports of injuries in the crash, but there were none life-threatening. Michigan State Police say one person involved in the crash got out of their vehicle and was hit.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — A pedestrian was killed early Monday morning in a three-vehicle crash on eastbound Interstate 270 in Florissant. According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, two crashes occurred around 2 a.m. near Exit 28 at Elizabeth Avenue and Washington Street. There was an abandoned vehicle on the left side of the road when the first crash occurred, and an alleged drunk driver hit the abandoned car and overturned.

A woman who was killed when her disabled van was struck by another vehicle on Interstate 5 in Carlsbad earlier this month has been identified as Luz Maria Sandoval, 63. The Carlsbad resident was southbound on I-5 just north of Poinsettia Lane when her Dodge van became disabled about 10:50 p.m. on Jan. 9, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office. Her son got out of the van and was pushing it on the freeway, then jumped out of the way just before it was rear-ended by a Ford SUV.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) is asking for public help in locating a semi truck and driver involved in a hit-and-run crash in November. On January 16, the AZDPS put out a call for help from the public in locating a truck that was involved in an injury crash on November 8, 2024, in southern Arizona. Officials say that the crash occurred at 9:18 p.m. on November 8 on westbound I-10 near the Avra Valley Road exit (milepost 243) in Marana.

Authorities said a Ford SUV lost control and crashed won the snowy highway near the Elkhart exit. The vehicle came to rest across the eastbound lanes of the highway. The driver was standing beside his vehicle when it was hit by a 2019 Volvo semi-truck, forcing the SUV into the man and knocking him into the ditch.

A driver died after hitting a truck on Route 24 in Berkley Tuesday afternoon, officials said. A little before 1 p.m., a vehicle hit an empty truck in the breakdown lane of the freeway, the Massachusetts State Police Department said. The truck belonged to a nearby work crew. The crash happened on the south side of Route 24 in Berkley, near mile marker 13.8. The driver died as a result of the crash, the state police said.

DONIPHAN, Neb. (KSNB) - Slick roads were a factor in a chain reaction crash Thursday night on Highway 281 just north of Doniphan. The Hall County Sheriff’s office said the accident happened just before 7 p.m. at the Clarice Street intersection. The sheriff said a driver was pulling out of the Dollar General parking lot and struck a south-bound semi. The semi jack-knifed and blocked both north and south bound lanes of the highway.
