Disabled car, passengers narrowly escape oncoming semi on Utah highway
IRON COUNTY, Utah (KABC) – It was a close call for some travelers on a Utah interstate who narrowly avoided being hit by a semi truck. The motorists’ car had broken down on the highway and they were standing next to it on the road as the semi approached at full speed. A highway patrolman can be seen trying to flag down the semi before scrambling out of the way.

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Family members say a 20-year-old Georgia State student who wanted to be a lawyer was killed in a crash in DeKalb County last week. Zuriel-Alice Emambo Ngome, who family members called “Ema,” was killed March 16 in a multi-car pile-up on I-285 near I-675. The crash happened around 5:16 a.m. after another the car Ngome was a passenger in hit another car, crashed into a median wall and then was hit by another car head-on.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A woman standing outside her disabled vehicle on I-95 is dead after being struck by two vehicles Sunday morning, a Florida Highway Patrol report said. A 21-year-old woman was “standing on the left, yellow painted edge line and her vehicle was blocking the left and center lanes of I-95 near mile marker 332 around 4:50 a.m. The report said An SUV swerved to avoid the car and struck the victim.

According to a preliminary investigation, traffic was stopped in the left two lanes of northbound I-95 due to a previous crash when a 2014 Chevrolet Sonic rear-ended a 2016 Toyota Highlander, which then rear-ended a 2022 Toyota Rav4.

The accident occurred just before 9 p.m. along the southbound lanes of 281 North, near the Hildebrand exit. According to authorities, two vehicles were parked on the shoulder of the highway in an attempt to change a flat tire. A third vehicle, a Toyota 4Runner, approached in the southbound lane when another vehicle drifted into their lane, causing them to veer slightly to the right.

GRUNDY COUNTY, Ill. (WLS) – Illinois State Police released new information to help solve a deadly hit-and-run on New Year’s Day. Galesburg woman Destiny Dixon, 23 and a mother of two, had stopped to help after a crash on Interstate 55 near the Will County-Grundy County line and Braceville. She was hit and killed by another vehicle that drove through the crash scene about 7:30 p.m. on northbound I-55. Several people were hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after the incident, police said.

MISSISSIPPI COUNTY, Ark. — The Arkansas Department of Public Safety said two lives were lost in a collision in Mississippi County on Wednesday. The incident involved a Toyota and an unoccupied semitrailer. Tanya Marie Mitchell, 55, from Paris, Arkansas, and Jeanetta Rose Kubes, 40, from Crocket, Arkansas, were occupants of the Toyota and did not survive the crash. Mitchell was the driver of the vehicle, and Kubes was the passenger.

The Vermont Agency of Transportation said I-89 Northbound at Exit 11 (French Hill Road) was shut down due to multiple crash scenes, slide offs and snowy conditions. I-89 Southbound at Exit 12 was briefly closed but reopened at 11:13 a.m., according to VTRANS. According to Vermont State Police, the driver of the tractor-trailer was traveling too fast for current conditions, which included heavy snowfall and snow-covered roads.
