San Jose man killed early Sunday morning in crash on Highway 101
A San Jose man died early Sunday morning when his car slammed into a truck that had rolled over minutes earlier on Highway 101. The 63-year-old man was killed at about 4:20 a.m. when his silver 2009 Toyota Camry barreled into a 1999 red GMC Sierra truck that sat wrecked in the northbound lanes of Highway 101, south of Story Road, according to Alicia Moreno, a California Highway Patrol spokeswoman.

A man died in Jessup, Maryland, on Sunday morning, after his truck hit a tractor-trailer that was stopped in the road. In a news release, the Howard County Police Department said that around 3:13 a.m. Sunday morning, 32-year-old Dane Thomas Benavidez, a resident of Laurel, was driving west on Md. Route 32 in a 2020 Chevrolet Colorado. Just before reaching the intersection with Washington Boulevard, Benavidez’s truck hit a 2022 Peterbilt tractor-trailer that was stopped in a travel lane.

DENVER — A woman is in the hospital after a hit-and-run crash that led to another crash on Interstate 25 early Saturday. The Denver Police Department said a vehicle was disabled when it was hit by another vehicle that took off near the Hampden Avenue exit at around 3:30 a.m. A semi-truck then hit the disabled vehicle from behind, police said. The semi’s driver stayed at the scene. The car was destroyed and the driver, Dawson Armstrong, told 9NEWS his friend was taken to the hospital.

CHICAGO (CBS) – One person is dead and another is injured after a crash involving a car and a semi truck Saturday morning in Cook County. According to Illinois State Police at 7:19 a.m., two people in a Nissan Sentra were stopped on southbound Interstate 294 near milepost 30 after being involved in a crash. A semi heading south was unable to stop and struck the Nissan in the rear.

SALEMBURG, NC, (February 16, 2023) - The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is searching for the suspect in a Thursday evening hit-and-run accident that killed a 59-year-old man in Salemburg. According to authorities, Keith Anthony Evans, of Newton Grove, was driving a vehicle northbound along North Carolina Highway 242 when the vehicle malfunctioned in an undetermined manner and stopped along the roadway shortly after 7 p.m. After activating the vehicle’s hazard lights, Evans stepped outside and was struck by a passing motorist who fled the scene.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A woman and a two-year-old girl were struck by a vehicle on Thursday night on Roosevelt Boulevard, according to a report from The Florida Highway Patrol. Troopers say the crash happened around 10 p.m. FHP says a vehicle was traveling South on Roosevelt Boulevard when it attempted to switch to the center lane. During so, the driver observed a vehicle stopped with the hazard lights on in the right lane.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — New York State Police are investigating a double fatal crash that closed part of the I-190 southbound early Friday morning in the City of Buffalo. The crash happened just after midnight. Troopers say an SUV driven by Rebecca A. Vosburgh, 36, of Cheektowaga was traveling south on the I-190 when her vehicle struck the guardrail and her vehicle became disabled, block two lanes. A second vehicle, driven by Zoraida Delgado, 27, of Buffalo was also traveling southbound, saw the accident and pulled over to offer assistance.

EAST COUNTY — A Lakeside man was seriously injured early Friday when he was struck by a big rig while standing next to a disabled car alongside Interstate 8 in Alpine, the California Highway Patrol said. The car was also hit in the crash, which happened about 12:45 a.m. in eastbound lanes west of Tavern Road, CHP Officer Matthew Baranowski said. The 26-year old man was standing on the driver’s side of a 2002 Cadillac Eldorado on the right shoulder of the freeway.

GREENDALE, Ind. — A 19-year-old man has died after he was hit while trying to push his vehicle up the road in southeast Indiana, according to Indiana State Police. ISP said it happened Thursday around 7:30 p.m. when 19-year-old Lee Thomas was driving on US 50 in Greendale and his car became disabled in the roadway. ISP said Thomas was trying to push the vehicle while his 15-year-old passenger was steering it from the driver’s seat when he was hit by another vehicle.

Law enforcement and emergency services responded to a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 35 southbound near Ames. Capt. Nicholas Lennie of the Story County Sheriff’s Office said a two-vehicle crash on the interstate caused “a subsequent pile-up” that involved four to six semis, which were found in nearby ditches or jackknifed in the road. He said one of the accidents caused a few minor injuries to the drivers such as scratches, cuts and bruises.
