Driver hits concrete wall on Turnpike, dies after being hit by truck
SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, FLA. (WSVN) - A driver was killed following an early morning crash on the Florida Turnpike in Southwest Miami-Dade that took an even more violent turn. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the victim was traveling south near Quail Roost Drive when he lost control of his gray Mercedes-Benz, slammed into a concrete barrier wall and came to rest blocking the highway, at around 4 a.m., Saturday. Investigators said the driver got out of the car and was walking on the roadway when he was struck by a tractor-trailer.

CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, Mo. (KFVS) - Two people are dead following a crash on Interstate 55 at the 119-mile marker. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 18-year-old Shayleigh Smith of Jackson and a 16-year-old juvenile from Hayti were killed. Their vehicle, a 2003 Mazda 6, was disabled from a crash that was blocking both lanes on the bridge over Apple Creek. It was then their vehicle was hit by a 2013 Ford F150 driven by Edward Lee of Memphis.

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (CBS) — An Atlantic City woman is dead after authorities say she was hit while helping someone else on the side of the road. The Atlantic City Police Department says the incident happened around 9:48 p.m. Wednesday on U.S. Route 30 near mile marker 55. According to investigators, 57-year-old Teresa Callaway stopped to help a woman who crashed her Jeep in the left lane. Callaway was one of multiple vehicles that stopped to help.

CRESTVIEW, Fla. (WKRG) The driver of an 18-wheeler was critically injured when he was hit by an SUV as he attempted to get out of his truck on Highway 189 near Pecan Lane. The 39-year-old driver, who has not been identified, fell onto the roadway as he was exiting his truck shortly after midnight. He was struck by a Toyota Rav4 driven by a 30-year-old woman from Gulfport. The driver of the semi-truck is from Clewiston, Fla.

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (CBS12) — A 53-year-old woman from West Palm Beach was killed after she was hit by a car on the Turnpike Tuesday night, the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) said. The crash happened on the southbound lanes, just south of the PGA Boulevard exit just after 11 p.m. A sports utility vehicle – driven by a 34-year-old man – was heading south on the Turnpike when he hit the woman, who was standing behind a pickup truck stopped on the outside shoulder of the road, according to FHP.

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) – A man was seriously hurt after he was hit by a tractor trailer Tuesday, according to Nevada Highway Patrol. NHP Trooper Travis Smaka said the crash happened just before 11 a.m. July 13 on I-15 southbound near Mile Marker 17, which is near Seven Magic Mountains. Smaka said two vehicles were on the shoulder of I-15 when one of the occupants was outside the vehicle. That man was hit by a tractor trailer, according to Smaka.
