Authorities release more info on eight-car crash near Devils Lake
DEVILS LAKE — A chain-reaction accident on Friday, Jan. 21, involving eight vehicles on a bridge on Highway 57 at mile-marker 12.5 near Devils Lake resulted in five people being transported to the hospital, according to Sgt. Jeff Bauske of the North Dakota Highway Patrol. All who were transported had minor injuries and were released the same day, and no life flights were necessary, Bauske said. There were no fatalities, the vehicles’ speeds were low, and alcohol consumption was not an issue “that we’re aware of,” he said.

A 23-year-old driver from Northvale was killed when his disabled car was struck by another overnight Monday on the Palisades Interstate Parkway in Alpine, authorities said. The victim’s 2002 Honda Civic was stopped in the fast lane of the northbound highway about a mile before Exit 4 in Alpine when it was struck by a 2021 Subaru shortly before 2 a.m., PIP Police Detective Sgt. First Class Raymond E. Walter said.

Franklin County, OH – January 22, 2022, one person was killed when a tractor-trailer hit a pedestrian in the travel lanes of Interstate 70 in west Franklin County. Authorities say the incident happened around 6:30 a.m. on eastbound I-70 near mile marker 88 and the Madison County line. Preliminary investigation suggests a Nissan pickup truck stopped on the freeway for unknown reasons. A passenger in the pickup exited toward the shoulder while the driver exited into the travel lanes of the highway.

TOWER CITY, N.D. (AP) — Authorities say a 43-year-old Bismarck woman was killed when the SUV she was riding in collided with an unoccupied tow truck that was stopped in the right lane on Interstate 94. The crash happened about 9 p.m. Saturday near Tower City. The North Dakota Highway Patrol says the tow truck experienced a mechanical issue and was stopped on the highway. The tow truck driver called to have his vehicle towed and received a ride from the scene, the patrol said.

Troopers say tractor-trailer rear-ended disabled car. A man was rushed to Reading Hospital with life-threatening injuries early Sunday morning after his disabled car was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer on Interstate 78 in Bethel Township, state police at Hamburg said. Troopers gave this account: A car occupied by a man from Spring Valley, N.Y., was stopped in the shoulder along the eastbound highway near mile marker 14.6, partially blocking the right lane.

HANKAMER, Texas — The Texas Department of Public Safety is asking for help in locating a driver and a vehicle that were involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash. It happened on Friday, Jan. 21, 2022 shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Interstate 10 near Hankamer. An initial investigation suggests that a 2012 Chevrolet SUV was parked on the outside of the eastbound lanes.

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. – A man who was working on his trailer on the side of the road was injured when another vehicle rear ended the trailer, causing it to overturn onto him, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies were called to CR 38 just west of CR 41 just before 5:30 Wednesday morning for a two vehicle crash. Reports say Brent Hershberger parked his truck and trailer on the side of the road on CR38 and the driver began working on the trailer.
