Kan. teen running from disabled car struck, killed on highway
SUMNER COUNTY —The Kansas Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal accident involving a pedestrian that occurred just after 8p.m. Friday in Sumner County. The Kansas Turnpike Authority reported a 2014 Chevy Express driven by Fernando Martinez Gonzalez, 31, Kansas City, Missouri, was northbound on Interstate 35 just south of Mulvane. The van struck a pedestrian identified as Shyann Clark, 18, Atlanta, Kansas, who was running across the road from a disabled vehicle.

KANSAS CITY —One person died in an accident just before 1a.m. Saturday in Kansas City, Missouri. According to KCPD Captain Jake Becchina, a blue Nissan Altima was westbound on E. Red Ridge Road approaching Harrison Street when it collided with a parked white Ford F-450 boom truck. The boom truck had its emergency lights activated and was surrounded by tall orange traffic cones The driver of the Nissan was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced deceased by medical staff.

ATLANTA - A 23-year-old woman died early Sunday morning after being struck by a car while standing near her disabled vehicle on Interstate 75 northbound in Atlanta. Atlanta police officers responded to the traffic crash on I-75 NB near Cleveland Avenue SW around 3:30 a.m. Sunday. A preliminary investigation showed that a 23-year-old woman was driving an Acura MDX northbound when her vehicle became disabled for unknown reasons. The woman pulled over onto the left shoulder and exited her car.

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A Chillicothe man was seriously injured Friday afternoon when his car crossed the median on U.S. 35 and struck a disabled tractor-trailer in Scioto Township, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The crash occurred about 3:33 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of U.S. 35 near the State Route 104 exit, troopers said. Michael Leeth, 33, of Chillicothe, was driving a 2012 Ford Focus westbound when he left the left side of the roadway, crossed the median and struck a 2003 Kenworth tractor-trailer that was disabled on the shoulder.

Sacramento, CA. – Dionicio Romero Flores, 34, has been identified as the man who died after a vehicle struck a group of pedestrians who were standing along eastbound Highway 50 in Sacramento on Sunday night, according to the California Highway Patrol. The incident was reported around 11:36 p.m. on eastbound Highway 50, just beyond the Highway 99 transition near 34th Street. CHP said four people had exited a vehicle and were standing on the right shoulder after the vehicle experienced a blown-out tire when they were hit by a passing vehicle.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — A man is in critical condition after being hit by a car Sunday night on Alum Creek Drive near the Interstate 270 ramp, according to Franklin County deputies. Deputies said the man’s Chevy Malibu broke down in the northbound lane of Alum Creek Drive. The driver was standing near the disabled car in the roadway when an oncoming vehicle struck him. He was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

Trey C. Flowers, of Milton, DE, was driving a Mack tractor-trailer south on the Turnpike’s eastern spur when the crash happened at milepost 112.4 in Secaucus at 9:01 a.m., New Jersey State Police Trooper II Christopher Postorino said. A Peterbilt dump-trailer had become disabled while traveling south and was parked on the right shoulder, according to the preliminary investigation. The Peterbilt driver got out of the vehicle and was standing outside it when Flowers’ Mack left the roadway to the right, entered the shoulder, and struck the rear of the unoccupied Peterbilt, Postorino said.

OSNABURG TWP., Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – A 24-year-old Massillon man has been identified as the victim in an SUV/disabled vehicle crash in Osnaburg Township last weekend. The Stark County Sheriff’s Office says Logan Workman was trying to get his car out of a ditch along Broadway Avenue NE just south of Route 153 when he was struck. He had just pulled out of a driveway. Workman died at the hospital.
