Driver rear-ends squad assisting at crash site in Waupaca County
WEYAUWEGA, Wis. (WSAW) - A man accused of striking a squad vehicle in Waupaca County on Tuesday morning has been cited for causing the crash. Around 5:45 a.m., a deputy from the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office was parked alongside the highway with his emergency lights activated while providing traffic control at a traffic crash scene along U.S. Highway 10 westbound, east of Old 49 Road in the town of Fremont.

A driver and his dog were killed this week in a crash on the New York State Thruway. The deadly accident happened around 5:15 p.m. Monday on Interstate 90 west in Albany in the Capital Region. David R. Hall, of Pittsfield, Massachusetts, was driving west on the Thruway when his SUV veered off the road and struck the back of a flatbed tractor-trailer that had stopped on the shoulder of the highway, the New York State Police said in a news release.

BOISE, Idaho — Two drivers were hospitalized after a three-vehicle crash on I-84 in Ada County on Monday afternoon. Idaho State Police said the crash happened around 2:51 p.m. at milepost 53 near Vista. Police said a 25-year-old Boise woman driving a 2021 Volkswagen Atlas rear-ended a 2021 International semi driven by a 37-year-old Caldwell man when the semi slowed for a disabled vehicle ahead. The Volkswagen also hit a 2002 Chevrolet S driven by a 25-year-old Meridian man.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – Newly-released video captures the moments leading up to a deadly crash in the Texas Panhandle that killed four young women from the Houston area. The footage is now central to a lawsuit filed against grocery giant H-E-B, a trucking company, and the truck driver involved. The crash happened on a sunny November day along a wide, open stretch of US 87 just outside Dalhart. Lakeisha Brown, 19, Myunique Johnson, 20, Taylor White, 27, and Breanna Brantley, 30, were traveling home from Oklahoma when their car was struck from behind by an 18-wheeler.

ROME, N.Y. – A two-vehicle crash involving a tow truck and a car left one man injured on St. Rt. 365. According to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred on Jan. 3 at around 7:18 p.m. when Roan Scott, 22, of Rome, failed to move to the right lane for a tow truck. The truck was attempting to winch a disabled vehicle out of the median. Scott’s vehicle spun and partially exited the roadway, coming to rest facing eastbound.

HAMPTON, Va. — A driver died early Monday morning after a two-vehicle crash inside the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel on Interstate 64 eastbound. Virginia State Police said the fatal crash occurred at approximately 2:38 a.m. on Jan. 5. after a grey Nissan Altima blew a tire and became disabled inside the tunnel. A red Acura MDX then struck the disabled Altima, police added. The driver of the disabled Altima was ejected and died at the scene.

HONOLULU (KHON2) — A 26-year-old man is dead after a multi-vehicle collision on the westbound H-1 Freeway on the night of Jan. 4, the Honolulu Police Department said. The deadly crash occurred in the Kapolei area, just before the Makakilo off-ramp. According to investigators, a 32-year-old man was driving on the freeway when he lost control of his vehicle attempting to avoid a crash. After losing control, he drove into the right shoulder land and up the dirt embankment before sideswiping two empty vehicles in the shoulder, officials said.

OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. — A routine crash investigation turned dangerous Saturday night when an Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office cruiser was struck by a vehicle on eastbound I-96 near the 23-mile marker. Deputies were on scene investigating a single-vehicle property damage crash around 7:40 p.m. when, at approximately 7:57 p.m., a white Jeep SUV traveling eastbound lost control. Deputies said the Jeep slammed into the parked patrol car, which had its emergency lights on, before sliding into a wrecker that was helping with the original crash.

One person was killed and another suffered major injuries after their disabled vehicle was struck on Interstate Highway 80 in Solano County Sunday morning. Westbound lanes of the interstate were closed east of Redwood Street at about 8 a.m. following the 7:37 a.m. wreck, before being reopened at about 9:30 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. A white Honda was involved in a solo-vehicle collision and was stopped on the interstate when it was struck by a blue Toyota, according to CHP Officer Scott Heitman.

A pedestrian struck early New Year’s Day on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Carbon County has been identified as an Allentown man. Pennsylvania State Police at Pocono identified the deceased as 32-year-old Luis A. Carlo. Carlo died from multiple blunt force trauma, according to the Carbon County Coroner’s Office. The death was ruled an accident. State police said the incident happened just before 3:30 a.m. Thursday at mile-marker 76.2 northbound of the turnpike’s Northeast Extension (Interstate 476) in Franklin Township.
