Driver involved in crash struck in second crash on Interstate 81
VULCAN – A driver involved in a crash on the Interstate was seriously injured when he was struck while checking on the occupants of the other vehicle involved, state troopers said Monday. The first crash happened around 6am Monday on Interstate 81 Southbound near Exit 131A in Mahanoy Township. According to State Police at Frackville, Carson Gaston, 48, of Lehighton, was headed south in a 1994 Freightliner. A pickup truck — a 2000 Ford F-150 driven by Jared Longenecker, 32, of Palmyra — failed to slow down for the slower moving Freightliner and struck the rig.

A woman checking on a vehicle’s occupants who crashed after losing control was killed after another vehicle struck her according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety. DPS previously described the incident as a wrong-way collision before correcting itself just before 2 p.m. Bart Graves, an agency spokesperson, said the driver of a Dodge Durango was heading west on Loop 202 at around 5:22 a.m. Sunday when they lost control and struck the median near 40th Street, causing the vehicle to spin before coming to rest facing the opposite direction.

A Raleigh police officer was injured Sunday in a crash involving three vehicles on U.S. Highway 64 at Lizard Lick Road near Zebulon. The crash was reported around 4:30 a.m., blocking all eastbound lanes of U.S. 64 at Exit 432 for Lizard Lick Road. The road reopened by 7 a.m. Investigators told WRAL News a 2011 Ford Edge was traveling eastbound on U.S. 64 when it hit the center guardrail, crashed and became stalled without headlights in the dark roadway.

The location of the crash was on westbound I-40 about 8 miles after the Kelbaker Road exit according to the California Highway Patrol. A blue semi-truck parked on the right shoulder of I-40 was struck from the rear by a red semi-truck, causing the red semi to have major passenger side damage to the cab.

ROCKINGHAM — The Vermont State Police on Sunday identified the victims of Saturday’s multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 91 northbound, in which a father and his 4-month-old daughter were killed. The operator of the Hyundai passenger vehicle was Taylor Binnington, 39, of North Haven, Connecticut; he was pronounced dead on scene. His wife, Evelyn Lake, 36, was a passenger in the rear seat. Their 4-month-old daughter, Parry Lake, also was seated in the rear of the vehicle and was life-flighted to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, where he later died of his injuries.

NORWICH/WEST HARTFORD, CT — State police said a 24-year-old West Hartford motorist slammed into a disabled vehicle on the side of Route 2 in Norwich Tuesday. While the West Hartford man wasn’t hurt in the crash, the accident seriously injured a 29-year-old Rhode Island man who was changing a tire in the shoulder of the state highway. The accident happened Tuesday at about 4:26 p.m. on Route 2 eastbound in Norwich.

A 95-year-old woman who went missing at the beginning of February is believed to have been found dead on an Air Force base, authorities said. A woman’s remains were found inside a crashed vehicle in a ravine on an air force base in Jacksonville, Ark. Police believe the woman is Belva Day, who was last seen on Feb. 6, though official identification of the body is still pending, according to ABC affiliate KATV, radio station KTLO and CW affiliate KY3.

SUFFOLK, Va. — Virginia State Police (VSP) say a man has died after a vehicle crash on the interstate in Suffolk Tuesday morning. Officials say VSP responded to a two-vehicle crash around 1:15 a.m. and investigations showed that 39-year-old Corey L. B. Knight of Chesapeake was driving a 2023 Volkswagen GTI on I-664 S near College Drive when he pulled off to the right shoulder, activated emergency hazard lights and exited the vehicle.

A 22-year-old driver died early Tuesday after authorities say he might have fallen asleep on a Fresno highway. The California Highway Patrol determined that the crash happened around 12:30 a.m. on southbound Highway 41, just north of the transition to Highway 99 when the driver of a Toyota Camry allowed the car to veer off the roadway. The Camry drifted onto the right shoulder and traveled in a southwesterly direction up an embankment before striking a concrete pillar, CHP said.

A Michigan man died early Tuesday morning following a crash where a semi-truck went off the road and hit multiple things, including a disabled vehicle, in Tipp City. The crash was reported around 12:52 a.m. on Interstate 75 near Ohio 571. Ralph Deaton, 56, of Adrian, Michigan, succumbed to his injuries on the scene, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. A preliminary investigation showed Deaton was driving a semi-truck north on I-75 when the semi went off the right side of the road and hit a disabled vehicle.
