Trucker on side of N.J. highway is killed by hit-and-run driver
A truck driver who exited his rig after parking along the side of Interstate 78 in Hunterdon County on Monday was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver, authorities said. Marshall Vizinat was standing along the right shoulder on the westbound side of the highway when he was hit at 7:55 p.m. near milepost 23.5 in Readington, State Police said. The unknown vehicle didn’t stop after striking Vizinat, according to police.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A deadly multi-vehicle crash closed all lanes of Interstate 24 near the Davidson County and Rutherford County line for several hours Wednesday morning. According to the Tennessee Department of Transportation, the crash was reported just before 2 a.m. Wednesday in the eastbound lanes of the interstate, near the Old Hickory Boulevard exit in La Vergne. TDOT officials confirmed early Wednesday morning that the crash involved a tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle.

Saratoga Springs, NY (September 30, 2025) – A southbound tractor-trailer struck a disabled pickup stopped on the Route 9 shoulder near East West Road on Tuesday morning, injuring two people and closing the highway for hours, city police said. Accident Details: The crash occurred around 6:35 a.m. near Saratoga Spa State Park when the tractor-trailer impacted the stopped pickup that had pulled over due to mechanical issues. The pickup’s driver sustained serious injuries and was transported to Albany Medical Center; the tractor-trailer driver was taken to Saratoga Hospital for evaluation.

FARMINGTON, Conn — A man died and another was hurt after a van hit them on Interstate 84 east in Farmington Sunday morning. Connecticut State Police said the collision happened on the highway at 9:12 a.m. The two men parked separate vehicles along the right shoulder of the highway, just before exit 17, including a Nissan Rogue and a Kenworth T880 truck. Both men were outside their vehicles when a RAM ProMaster van traveling on the right side of the highway hit them for an unknown reason, state police said.

KANE COUNTY, Ill. (WLS) – A driver was killed in a fiery crash Saturday after colliding with a semi-truck that was parked on shoulder on Interstate 90 in the northwest suburbs. The crash happened around 3:18 p.m. near Almora in Kane County, Illinois State Police said. A Truck Tractor Semi-Trailer was parked on the right shoulder of the interstate, and it was hit by an SUV that crossed into the shoulder for an unknown reason, ISP said.

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - A Lubbock man has died after being struck by a vehicle Friday night, while walking away from a disabled vehicle on the I-27/U.S. 87 frontage road around 11:15 p.m. DPS says 30-year-old Brandon Guerrero was northbound on the Interstate, north of 98th Street, when he was involved in a minor single-vehicle crash in his 2018 Ford Escape. This left his vehicle disabled in the northbound lanes.

ROCKBRIDGE COUNTY, Va. — One person was killed and multiple others were injured in a 10-vehicle pileup on Interstate 81 in Rockbridge County, Virginia Thursday evening during heavy rain and traffic. Abdiqadir Ahmed Nur, 36, of Shakopee, Minnesota, died when he drove into the back of several tractor trailers that were stopped due to heavy traffic. The crashes were reported at about 5:08 p.m. on the northbound side of Interstate 81 at the 181-mile marker.

Around 9:40 p.m. on Sept. 24, the Arlington County police officer stopped a car on the left shoulder of Interstate 395. The officer’s vehicle was parked in the left lane with its emergency lights on. The car the officer stopped, a Toyota Corolla, was on the left shoulder.

BAKER COUNTY, OR – A Washington man survived nearly three days in a crashed vehicle before being discovered Monday morning in eastern Oregon. The Baker County Sheriff’s Office said dispatchers received a report of a motor vehicle crash at 9:38 a.m. on September 22 along Anthony Lakes Highway near Antelope Peak Road. Responding law enforcement, fire, and medical personnel found a 2009 Volkswagen Rabbit down an embankment. The driver, identified as 75-year-old Paul Bartholomew Schwinberg of Richland, Washington, was still in the vehicle.

Covington police say the officer was in his cruiser with his emergency lights on, blocking the right lane for the disabled vehicle when another car rear-ended the cruiser, pushing it nearly 150 feet.
