Berks County coroner IDs man killed in tractor trailer crash on I-78
BERKS CO., Pa. - The Berks County Coroner’s Office has released the identity of a man who died in a crash on I-78 in Berks County Friday night. Donald Gene Hausenfluck, 61, of San Antonio, Texas, was operating a tractor trailer on I-78 westbound in Upper Bern Township on Friday at approximately 11:48 p.m.., the coroner’s office said. For unknown reasons, his vehicle left the roadway and struck another tractor trailer that was parked on the shoulder of the interstate, according to officials.

A collision on Route 28 took the life of a 22-year-old driver in Pembroke early Friday morning. Around 6:13 a.m., Pembroke Police received a report of a crash involving three vehicles in the southbound lane of the road, according to Chief Dawn Shea. A truck with Hudson-based Continental Paving had stalled in the breakdown lane while the driver was in the process of putting up road construction signs. The driver of a Chevrolet Colorado passing the construction vehicle slowed to yield to oncoming traffic, which is when the third vehicle struck the Colorado from behind, according to Shea.

HOBART, Ind. (WLS) – A 19-year-old, 9-year-old and 5-year-old were killed early Friday morning in a crash in northwest Indiana. Indiana State Police said its troopers responded to the crash on southbound Interstate 65, about 1 mile south of Ridge Road in Hobart, about midnight. Responding troopers found a crashed blue Ford Explorer, which was facing west and blocking the right two lanes. ISP said the Ford’s driver, a 31-year-old Gary woman, was heading south in the right lane when she allegedly fell asleep and veered off of the road.

SAN ANTONIO - A man has died after being struck by a car following a wreck. The crash occurred around 2:30 a.m. near Binz Engleman and I-35. According to the San Antonio Police Department, the man was traveling northbound when he lost control of his car and hit a guardrail. He exited the vehicle when he was struck by another car, killing him. The car fled the scene.

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police said a 27-year-old man was hit and killed by a vehicle after his own single-vehicle crash early Friday morning. The incident happened around 2:30 a.m. along Interstate 35 northbound near Binz-Engleman Road. According to a preliminary report, the man was traveling northbound when he lost control of the vehicle and hit a guardrail. After he exited his vehicle, police said the man was struck by a separate vehicle.

STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. — One person is in the hospital after a crash on Interstate 95 in Stafford County. Virginia State Police troopers are investigating what led up to the collision. Troopers were called to southbound I-95 at mile marker 138 around 6 a.m. for a report of a two-vehicle crash. When troopers arrived, they found an SUV and a tractor trailer had collided. Investigators learned that the SUV was stopped on the right shoulder of I-95 when it was struck by a tractor trailer heading southbound.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas (KBTX) - A patrol vehicle was struck from behind during a traffic stop on I-45 on Tuesday, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. The incident happened in the 29000 block of I-45 on May 13. A deputy had stopped a motorcycle and returned to the patrol vehicle to verify the driver’s information. While the deputy sat inside the marked patrol vehicle with emergency lights activated, a Honda CR-V entered the HOV lane illegally and struck the patrol vehicle from behind, according to the sheriff’s office.

OCEANSIDE — A big rig crashed and overturned on Interstate 5 in the far northern reaches of the San Diego area on Wednesday, leaving the truck driver seriously injured and tangling commuter traffic for miles through the morning rush hour and into midday. The southbound tractor-trailer veered out of control, hit a guardrail and toppled over near the Aliso Creek Rest Area at about 4:30 a.m., spilling debris — including dozens of what appeared to be FedEx boxes — across the roadway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — A deadly multiple vehicle crash on I-95 North in Riviera Beach closed all lanes overnight into Wednesday morning. The crash happened at Exit 76, Blue Heron Boulevard, just before 12:30 a.m. In an 8:10 a.m. update from Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), a 16-year-old girl from Riviera Beach was killed. According to FHP’s crash report, the teen was driving a Nissan Altima northbound on I-95 when she reportedly lost control of her car, hitting a guardrail and concrete wall before the car came to a stop on the interstate the roadway.
