15 vehicles towed from ‘chain reaction’ crash on Mass. Pike due to icy roads
Icy roads and wintry conditions led to two major crashes on state highways Thursday night. In Brimfield, Massachusetts State Police reported a “chain-reaction” crash that involved nearly 15 vehicles, including multiple tractor-trailers and cars. The incident reportedly happened around 11:20 p.m. Thursday night and multiple drivers and passengers were brought to the hospital. Police said the severity of the injuries are still being determined and that, in all, 15 vehicles were towed from the scene.

MURRIETA, CA — Two people were sent to a local hospital Thursday following a three-vehicle crash on eastbound Clinton Keith Road in unincorporated Murrieta, near La Cresta. The crash was reported at 11:58 a.m., just east of Avenida La Cresta. California Highway Patrol Officer Mike Lassig said two vehicles, including one towing a trailer, were stopped on the road when a third vehicle rear-ended them. Two people who were outside the stopped vehicles were injured.

MANITOWOC COUNTY (NBC 26) — I-43 is now open after a multi-car pile-up. The sheriff’s office said there was a total of six vehicles involved which included a semi, Lamers bus, box truck, straight truck, passenger car, and a pickup truck towing a trailer. Only one individual needed to be transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Tuesday at approximately 6:47 p.m., the sheriff’s office said deputies and EMS personnel responded to I-43 northbound just south of CTH JJ for reports of a multi-vehicle crash.

BOLINGBROOK, Ill. (CBS) – A Bolingbrook woman was hit by a car and killed while pushing her own car off the road early Wednesday. Bolingbrook police were called to Joliet Road and 107th Street at 4:54 a.m. for a crash. They learned a woman had been pushing her disabled vehicle south on Joliet Road when she was struck from behind by another car traveling in the same direction. The victim is identified as Jenna Cawthon, 30.

Dallas Police are searching for a driver who hit four pedestrians near Love Field. It happened near the I-35 and Highway 183 split on Sunday night just before midnight. Police said two vehicles got into a minor accident near the 1300 block of W. Mockingbird Lane at Brookriver Drive. Four people involved in that incident got out of their cars. At some point, another vehicle was trying to avoid the scene and ended up hitting the people standing outside their cars.

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Cobb County Police are investigating a deadly crash that happened last Saturday along Interstate 75 at Terrell Mill Road. The crash, which happened just after 10 p.m., involved a Toyota Tacoma pickup and Nissan Maxima. The pickup was traveling along I-75 when the driver rear-ended the Maxima, according to a release. Investigators said the car was stopped in the middle of the interstate, and the driver of the pickup couldn’t avoid the crash.

RANCHO CORDOVA — A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 50 in Rancho Cordova, authorities said Monday. The collision happened at around 7:15 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of the highway near Zinfandel Drive. According to the California Highway Patrol East Sacramento division, a vehicle was pulled over to the shoulder of the highway. A man who was outside the vehicle entered, for unknown reasons, into the traffic lanes where an oncoming red Toyota was unable to avoid hitting him.

Investigators said that the accident happened at around 5:20 a.m. along southbound lanes of the freeway in the Sun Valley area near the 170 Freeway. According to officials, an Access Services van going southbound on I-5 somehow became disabled. While stalled, a semi-truck crashed into the van, causing it to catch fire.
