Arkansas deputy struck by passing motorist while helping disabled semi
GREENE COUNTY, Ark. — A Greene County, Arkansas deputy is recuperating after being struck by a passing car while rendering assistance to semi truck experiencing mechanical issues. The incident occurred just before 6:00 am, on Monday morning. Greene County Sheriff Brady Snyder said Sergeant Colby Drope was assisting a tractor-trailer driver that was having mechanical issues on Highway 49 northbound between Paragould and Marmaduke when he was struck by a passing motorist.

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. — A road ranger was struck by an SUV Tuesday afternoon on the northbound lanes of the Sawgrass Expressway, prompting a major shutdown and sending multiple people to the hospital, authorities said. According to investigators, a Florida Highway Patrol trooper was positioned in the center lane with emergency lights activated while assisting a disabled tractor-trailer. A road ranger truck was parked behind the patrol vehicle with cones and other warning devices deployed to alert approaching drivers.

Bowie resident Mijah Smith was the sole occupant of a BMW SUV that was involved in a fatal crash in Prince George’s County late on Monday night, according to Maryland State Police. Investigators say shortly before 10:15 p.m. on April 13, Smith was driving on the interstate near Maryland 704 when, for unknown reasons, she traveled off the roadway, struck a barrier, and the vehicle became inoperable between the shoulder and left lane.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office is mourning one of its own following a serious crash on Wednesday. The sheriff’s office said Deputy Landon Faulkner was involved in a serious crash on Wednesday evening. Faulkner was traveling on Highway 111 when he collided with a disabled vehicle in a travel lane. Faulkner, 24, was taken to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

(FOX40.COM) — A brief driver distraction led to a chain-reaction crash involving two big rigs early Wednesday morning on Interstate 5 northbound just north of the Willows Rest Area, according to the California Highway Patrol. CHP said the initial collision occurred shortly after 5:30 a.m. when a driver traveling northbound reportedly looked away from the roadway to cough. When the driver refocused on traffic, a big rig was directly ahead, and the driver was unable to avoid crashing into the rear of the truck.
