Car found crashed off WB I-94 near Portage with man trapped inside for several days: state police
PORTAGE, Ind. (WLS) – Our coverage of this story has moved here. A man who had been trapped in his crashed truck for several days was rescued after fishermen found the wreck under an I-94 overpass Tuesday. Indiana State Police said two fishermen - Nivardo Delatorre of Portage and his father-in-law Mario Garcia of Hobart, were walking along Salt Creek about one mile east of the Portage exit when they saw a crashed car under the bridge, hidden from plain view, under an overpass under I-94 between US 20 and State Road 249.

LOUISA- At approximately 7:30 p.m. on Sunday (Dec 24, 2023) the Virginia State Police responded to a fatal crash on Interstate 64 at the 133.2 mile marker. A 2019 Nissan Kicks driven by Aldo Jose Abello, 37, of Charlottesville, Va., struck a deer while traveling in the left lane of eastbound Interstate 64 at the 133.2 mile marker, disabling his vehicle in the left lane. Abello activated his the hazard lights, exited the vehicle, and stood on the roadside/ grassy median.

HENDERSON COUNTY, N.C. (FOX Carolina) - North Carolina Highway Patrol announced that troopers are investigating after a hit-and-run along I-26 killed a South Carolina woman on Christmas. Troopers said the crash happened around 12:30 a.m. on December 25 along a portion of I-26 East in Henderson County. According to troopers, a witness said the situation began when the victim ran over a small traffic cone, and it became lodged under her car.

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A woman walking on Interstate 95 after exiting a disabled vehicle was struck and killed by another vehicle in Brevard County on Christmas, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Troopers said a Mitsubishi Outlander was traveling northbound on Interstate 95 near mile marker 160 in the center lane around 9:38 p.m. after the victim — a 43-year-old Roseland, Florida woman — had gotten out of her disabled vehicle from a previous crash and was walking east.

The California Highway Patrol said on December 24, 2023, at around 1:13 a.m., officers were called to a crash on westbound Highway 58 near Tehachapi Boulevard. CHP said a 61-year-old California City man was standing within the roadway of Highway 58 westbound to Tehachapi Boulevard, after being involved in a separate crash.

A 30-year-old Bunkie man was killed in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 49 in Lafayette Parish early Christmas Day, according to the Louisiana State Police. Tevin Ford was headed north on I-49 in a 2021 Chevrolet Corvette at a high speed when he rear ended an 18-wheeler hauling sugar cane, State Police said. Ford’s car, which was disabled in the roadway, was then hit by a 2021 Nissan Versa that was also headed north.

POINSETT COUNTY, Ark. (KAIT) - According to the Arkansas Department of Transportation, a man died on Sunday after a multi-vehicle accident on Dec. 24. According to a report, a vehicle, driven by Christopher Eck, 54 of Memphis ‚was traveling south on Interstate 555. Eck’s vehicle was stopped on the roadway and was struck by another vehicle traveling south. Eck’s vehicle was struck a second and third time by two different vehicles, also traveling south.

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a fatal crash that took place on Interstate 376 early Monday morning. The crash occurred around 1 a.m. at mile marker 78 and involved three separate vehicles, according to a press release from Trooper Rocco S. Gagliardi. The incident began as a car became disabled in the left lane on the interstate after it overturned. The driver then left the vehicle, walked to the shoulder and received aid from two people who stopped their car to help.

FULTONDALE, Ala. (WIAT) — A person was killed in a crash on I-65 northbound Saturday evening in Jefferson County. According to Fultondale Fire and Rescue Capt. Brad Cantrell, there was a two-vehicle wreck involving a sedan and tractor-trailer. Gayla Ingle, 27, of Florence, was killed in the crash when the vehicle she was driving struck the rear of a tractor-trailer that was parked on the shoulder of the interstate. Ingle was not using a seat-belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.

WESTPORT, Conn. — A Bridgeport man was killed Saturday evening after he was struck by a car on Route 15 in Westport, Connecticut State Police said. State police said troopers, along with a medical crew and the fire department, responded around 10:38 p.m. to a report of a one-car crash in the area of Route 15 south, just before exit 42. Troopers reportedly found a 2016 Toyota Corolla stopped in the middle of two lanes, and a 2021 Infiniti Q50 along the right shoulder with the front of the car against the wood beam guardrail, state police said.
