Attempted hit-and-run collision on I-5 near SeaTac leaves 72-year-old Kent woman dead
SEATTLE — A deadly collision shut down southbound lanes of Interstate 5 for multiple hours early Sunday morning near SeaTac. According to the Washington State Patrol, a vehicle traveling in lane two struck another vehicle in lane one before leaving the scene. The second vehicle became disabled and ended up perpendicular to the roadway. Moments later, a third vehicle collided with the disabled vehicle. Authorities said a 72-year-old woman from Kent was driving the second vehicle and died at the scene.

Talk about too close for comfort. A distracted tractor-trailer driver struck a police patrol car early Saturday morning in Middlesex County, though the officer inside escaped injury, authorities said. The crash occurred about 2:40 a.m. while the South Brunswick officer was parked on the shoulder of Route 1 in a construction area, said Deputy Police Chief Jim Ryan. Authorities said the driver hit more than 50 traffic cones and an arrow signboard before sideswiping the police car, which had its emergency lights activated.

POTTSTOWN, Pa. - A good Samaritan who stopped to help after witnessing a crash on Route 100 was struck by another vehicle himself late Sunday morning. According to 911 dispatchers, the call came in around 11:14 a.m. for an incident on Route 100 northbound near the Route 422 on‑ramp. Authorities say two vehicles were involved in the initial collision. The Pottstown police chief told 69 News there was serious damage to the vehicles, and confirmed the drivers were not under the influence of anything.

GOODHUE COUNTY, Minn. — One person remains in serious condition and a Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office deputy was treated and released from the hospital following a crash on Highway 52 near Pine Island. According to the sheriff’s office, just after 4 p.m. on Saturday, a deputy’s Ford Explorer was parked on the shoulder of Highway 52 near milepost 72, as the deputy was awaiting a driving complaint. That’s when a Nissan Altima traveling southbound struck the squad, according to the sheriff’s office.

TOWN OF MAMARONECK, NY — A trooper is lucky to have escaped serious injury, after being hit by a car during a traffic stop on I-95. The early morning, chain reaction pileup involved three cars. The New York State Police say that on Sunday, around 5 a.m., two troopers conducted a traffic stop on the Thruway, in the town of Mamaroneck, on a 2025 Mercedes sedan driven by 52-year-old Siiyer W.

EDINBURG TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WJW) — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash on I-76 where troopers report a pick-up truck struck a disabled semi-truck, which was parked on the right shoulder of the interstate. According to a media release, the fatal crash in Portage County took place shortly before 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11 in Edinburg Township. According to the release, the 67-year-old driver of the semi was inside the sleeper cab when the semi was hit by a 2024 Ram 3500, pulling a 2024 Kaufman Trailer.

A Londonderry man died at a local hospital after his vehicle was struck from behind while stopped on the shoulder of Interstate 93 in Derry, State Police said. Larry Niles Jr., 53, was killed following a two-vehicle crash on I-93 southbound near mile marker 10 in Derry, State Police said. Troopers responded just before 2 p.m. Monday to find that Niles’s 2007 Ford Focus had been stopped in the right breakdown lane when it was rear-ended by a 2015 Chevrolet Express van driven by Aiden McCarthy, 22, of Dracut, Mass.

GRANT COUNTY, IND. (WOWO) A Marion man was killed Tuesday morning in a crash on Interstate 69 in Grant County. Deputies responded around 6:33 a.m. to a crash in the northbound lanes near mile marker 272 after multiple 911 calls reported a vehicle had flipped and several people were ejected. Investigators determined two vehicles were involved: a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado and a 1996 Chevrolet pickup truck. Authorities say 45-year-old Joseph Kidwell of Marion died at the scene despite life-saving efforts from first responders.

A tow truck technician in Western Kentucky was hit and killed by a tractor-trailer on Interstate 165 Wednesday morning, and the driver has been charged with leaving the scene. The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office said the collision occurred around 6:50 a.m. Central on Interstate 165 near the Ohio County line. The sheriff’s office said the technician was out of his truck assisting a disabled tractor-trailer on the shoulder of the road when a passing tractor-trailer hit him.
