Man killed in 101 Freeway chain-reaction crash in Encino
LOS ANGELES - A multi-vehicle chain-reaction crash on the 101 Freeway in Encino left one person dead early Saturday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol. The fatal incident occurred near White Oak Avenue after a disabled vehicle became a hazard in the middle of the dark highway. What we know: The CHP first received reports at 1:48 a.m. of a black sedan blocking the northbound fast lane with its hazard lights on, officials said.

BEAUMONT, Texas — A reserve deputy constable from Jefferson County was killed Friday morning after a Mack truck struck the rear of her patrol vehicle while she was conducting traffic control on Interstate 10 near Winnie, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. Authorities identified the deputy as Heather Avery, 48, of the Jefferson County Precinct One Constable’s Office. The crash occurred at approximately 7:41 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 near the 830-mile marker in Chambers County.

(KTIV) - Authorities are saying a dust storm along a major interstate contributed to 12 vehicles being involved in a crash in Southeast South Dakota The state’s Department of Public Safety says the crash was located five miles north of the town of Beresford on Interstate 29. They say the crashes happened at about 5:20 p.m., when there was a dust storm in the area, creating “extremely limited visibility” around mile marker 54, just south of the Fairview exit.

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - An Illinois State Police squad car was struck by another driver Tuesday afternoon on Interstate 55, marking the agency’s ninth Move Over Law-related crash of 2026. The backstory: The crash happened around 12:40 p.m. along northbound I-55 near East Lake Shore Drive (milepost 88) in Springfield. According to ISP, a trooper had pulled over onto the shoulder to conduct a commercial vehicle inspection on a semi-truck. The squad car’s emergency lights were on, and the trooper was outside the vehicle inspecting the truck.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office is mourning one of its own following a serious crash on Wednesday. The sheriff’s office said Deputy Landon Faulkner was involved in a serious crash on Wednesday evening. Faulkner was traveling on Highway 111 when he collided with a disabled vehicle in a travel lane. Faulkner, 24, was taken to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

Troopers said the crash occurred around 11:15 a.m. near the Route 501 exit (Exit 13) in Bethel Township. The man, who has not been identified to the public, had parked his blue Volvo tractor-trailer along the right shoulder.

(FOX40.COM) — A brief driver distraction led to a chain-reaction crash involving two big rigs early Wednesday morning on Interstate 5 northbound just north of the Willows Rest Area, according to the California Highway Patrol. CHP said the initial collision occurred shortly after 5:30 a.m. when a driver traveling northbound reportedly looked away from the roadway to cough. When the driver refocused on traffic, a big rig was directly ahead, and the driver was unable to avoid crashing into the rear of the truck.
