Driver charged in I-440 crash that killed 1; investigation underway
RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) – One person is dead after a Friday night crash on I-440 Westbound. Around 9:40 p.m., Raleigh police responded to a crash near the Glen Eden Drive overpass. All westbound lanes were closed down. Authorities told ABC11 that the initial collision involved several vehicles, which were all moved to the shoulder of the highway. Officers and a towing company were on the scene finishing crash documentation. Investigators say that while this was happening, a white 2015 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Jack Neville was speeding and struck the rear left corner of a 2007 Pontiac Vibe.

CAMPBELL COUNTY, Ky. (WKRC) - A missing person was discovered in an overturned car in a creek after crashing their car near the Ohio River, according to police. The Campbell County Police Department announced the discovery of a missing person at 9 a.m. on February 21 in a press release. The department said that the individual was reported missing at 8 p.m. on February 20 after authorities received an iPhone crash detection alert in the area of Nienaber Lane near the Ohio River in the area of Melbourne, Kentucky.

CLARENDON COUNTY, S.C. — Authorities have identified two victims who died in a Friday crash in Clarendon County as a mother and son. Master Trooper William Bennett with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the crash happened around noon on Greeleyville Highway near Bay Shadow Drive. Bennett said a 2015 Toyota Sienna was heading north on Greeleyville Highway when it struck a log on an unoccupied Western Star truck with a log trailer that was disabled in the northbound lane.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A woman is dead after her car was hit on Interstate 70 in Kansas City, Missouri on Saturday, police say. According to the Kansas City Police Department (KCPD), officers were called to westbound I-70 near the Walnut Street exit around 8:30 a.m. KCPD says that their investigation revealed that a Hyundai was stopped in a lane of I-70 with a flat tire and no hazard lights on.

HAHIRA, Ga. — A Hahira police officer was killed when his patrol car was struck during a traffic stop in Lowndes County, WTXL reported. Officer Caleb Abney died on Feb. 19 while conducting a stop near mile marker 31 on I-75 northbound, according to the report. Authorities said he was inside his patrol vehicle with emergency lights activated when a Chevrolet Camaro veered onto the shoulder and struck the patrol car, which then collided with the vehicle Abney had stopped.

According to Cullman County Schools, Bus 26-03, serving the West Point route, was stopped when a pickup struck it from behind. Officials report all students and the bus driver are safe. One person was transported to the hospital as a precaution. Students were transferred to another bus to complete their route to school, the district said.

EVANSTON, Wyo. (KUTV) — Two people were killed and another 22 people were injured following a massive multi-vehicle crash on I-80 near Evanston on Wednesday. The crash happened around 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 18. Wyoming Highway Patrol said the crashes happened simultaneously at mile marker 18, just east of Evanston. A smaller crash happened in the eastbound lanes, involving several semi-trucks and passenger vehicles. A larger crash in the westbound lanes involved 20 semi-trucks and 12 passenger vehicles.

COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS — A Utah Highway Patrol trooper was injured in a crash Thursday while responding to a separate crash on I-215 near Big Cottonwood Road. “They’re saying moderate injuries. It doesn’t appear to be anything life-threatening,” Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Cam Roden said. Roden said the trooper was standing outside of his car when the accident occurred. “He got hit outside of his car and then his car got hit, as well,” Roden said.
