I-40 eastbound remains closed after tractor-trailer explosion
Part of Interstate 40 in Sampson County will remain closed until about noon Wednesday after a crash caused a tractor-trailer to explode. Sky 5 flew over the scene near Faison around 6:50 a.m. Tuesday. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol said a single tractor-trailer carrying fuel hit a slower-moving passenger vehicle in the eastbound lane. The impact caused the tractor-trailer to overturn, but only minor damage at the time. A pickup truck crashed into the tractor-trailer, causing the fire.

GRAY COUNTY, Texas (KVII) — A tragic accident on I-40 early Saturday morning claimed the lives of two young men from Dumas. The crash happened at about 2:16 a.m., about three miles west of Alanreed. The preliminary investigation determined that a 2020 Freightliner truck tractor towing a semi-trailer was traveling east on I-40, and a 2018 Chevrolet Camaro was disabled on the road from a previous crash. The dark conditions and severe weather caused the big rig’s driver to not see the Camaro on the road and hit the passenger side.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP) is asking for public assistance in a hit-and-run collision involving a semi truck that occurred on I-80 on Friday. WHP said that the hit-and-run crash occurred at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, April 25, near Rock Springs, Wyoming. A commercial truck driver was standing outside of his parked vehicle on westbound I-80 at mile marker 99 when he was struck by another semi truck. The driver of the truck that struck the truck driver left the scene.

JENNER, Calif. – The body of a 74-year-old man who had been reported missing two days earlier was recovered from a pickup truck submerged in the Russian River on Saturday afternoon. Clifford Souza was last seen Thursday in Gualala, an unincorporated community in Mendocino County. He had planned to drive to Martinez and return to Gualala on Thursday night, according to the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office. A Silver Alert was issued when he did not return.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the Shreveport Fire Department already on the scene, providing medical assistance. GRANVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) – A tractor trailer crashed and flipped onto its side Friday morning along I-85 northbound, causing lanes to close. It happened around 2:20 a.m. near the Granville-Vance County line just north of US Highway 158 in Oxford. According to North Carolina State Highway Patrol, a car was traveling northbound and crashed into a guardrail. It then became disabled in the middle of the road. An 18-wheeler crashed into the car shortly after and flipped over before catching fire.

Banks Crossing, GA — April 23, 2025, Humumed Ali was injured in a truck accident at about 6 a.m. on southbound Interstate 85. Authorities said a Freightliner semi-truck was broken down on the side of the highway near exit 149 when it was hit from behind by another Freightliner. The crash spilled cherries from the second semi-truck across the road. The driver of the parked semi, Ohio resident Humumed Ali, 48, was hospitalized with unspecified injuries after the crash, according to authorities.

PRYOR, Okla. - A 36-year-old man was killed and two others were injured in a crash involving a deer early Monday on a rural Mayes County road, authorities said. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said Cody Pryor died at the scene of the crash. A 17-year-old was life-flighted to a Tulsa hospital for his injuries and a 35-year-old woman suffered minor injuries, troopers say. The incident began around 6 a.m. on South 430 Road, just south of West 500 Road, when a driver struck a deer.

On April 22, around 5:00 p.m., Troopers responded to a crash on SH-6 near SL-340, east of Waco. Authorities learned a Dodge Ram traveling southbound drove onto the shoulder of the roadway, crashing into the rear of a truck tractor tank trailer on the shoulder of the roadway.

VACAVILLE, Calif. — A man was killed in a crash on eastbound Interstate 80 in Vacaville on Tuesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol. The CHP said, for unknown reasons, the man was in a stopped Mazda that was blocking a lane on the highway near Leisure Town Road when an 18-wheeler crashed into the stopped car. Officials identified the driver of the Mazda as a 58-year-old man from Stockton but haven’t released his name yet.
